Out of Shape, or Not?

I have always been a big exercise fanatic,(okay, Narcissist, lol) but after I got muscle aches, from my first 2 Interferon shots, I stopped riding my bike, in fear of developing muscle cramps in my legs.
After the sx of the Inf shot went away, I developed hemolytic anemia, around my 7th week of Tx, and felt too clumsy and dizzy (breathless and lead legs) to ride my bike. But thru-out Tx I did take my dog on two 20 minute walks per day, and did continue to go out of the house everyday. I would shop, have coffee with friends, etc. And at home, of course, the house-work never ends. (Yeah, I work 2 jobs also, but make my own hours)
The good news is: after 5 weeks of riba-reduction, and no longer feeling anemic, I got back on my bike last week, and guess what?  I havent lost hardly any of my endurance!  My lungs feel strong, and after a few bike rides, my inner thighs are looking toned again :)
My advice would be to take these little walks, when you are feeling crappy
during Tx. It helps, when it is time to get back into shape again. It is also healthy for our bodies, to circulate, etc...

A Buddhist mountain Monastery is such a peaceful place, to begin rebuilding.
The exercise also helps with depression. I really missed riding my bike, I cant stand driving a car at all, it hurts many parts of my body~

Within the past few weeks or so I am back to treadmilling. After the first few times my legs ached so badly that self massage was my only hope. I hope that I don't pay too big a price but this week I feel fantastic as I start week 19 and have pressure washed half of my enormous decks. OMG...Just took my shot so we will see what tomorrow brings. Thanks for the encouraging posts about keepin it movin...And, I still work full time...Did i mention I am sooooo grateful?

Three days after I got out of the hospital after my transplant, my husband took me to a Buddhist mountain monastery where we walked up and down hills.
Sometimes I only made it three steps before I had to sit down and rest. At the end of the day my muscles ached yet it began to get me back on the road to recovery.

During tx this last winter, I forced myself over and over, to get off the couch, out the door and down the street. There is no doubt in my mind that keeping moving helps us from deteriorating during tx as well as helps us recoup quicker after. A healthy person who lies around for 6 months doing nothing would begin to have to rebuild themselves too.

Don't regret the past. Get up, get moving and go forward.
