Post Treatment/Any Side Effects?

I finished treating end of July 07 (was geno 2b); had 3 month post PCR and it was UND.   Curious if anyone knows what long term sides interferon and/or Riba may have.  I seem to have skin issues, and just curious if others are plagued with this.  Dryness has subsided however.  Most recent problem has to do with a couple teeth/below gumline.   Went to dentist and he did some type of periodental scaling.....said teeth & gums were in good shape.   Last week I ended up in emergency room hospital via ambulance. Passed out at home, had severe stomach cramping and running fever.  Diagnosis was viral type gastroenteritis--basically, nothing can be done; needs to run its course.  While I was treating, I never got that sick as I did last week.       All I can say is "boy, what a year 2007 has been".

Hi! This blue361 at this time I can only say to you is have Faith in Jesus Christ who is a healer. I was taking the interferon also and it caused me to collasp the second week after taking it back in June of this year and I have been without medication for almost five months. I was put on a drug named Atripla which contains three drugs in one often given to patients with HIV and now we're hoping in Jesus that this will help decrease the viral infection.

I have been asking the same question.  I ended treatment in June 07, Genotype 1A stage 2 cirrhosis,  and am still not feeling right.  Some of the side effects include impaired memory and difficulty focusing, depression and anxiety attacks, chronic fatigue, joint an muscle soreness, strange skin rashes, dry skin to the point of scaling.  At least I am sleeping again!  That was what was killing me during treatment.  I also had a really strange foot fungus that I got rid of.

I do know that these antivirals, peginterferon and ribivarin  really mess up the immune system.  This is really frustrating because all I get from doctors is "get more exercize and think positive thoughts"  Thank god for medical school :- /  I am hoping all this will pass eventually.  Keep on keeping on..........
