Prove trials and weight

by dmhrdh, Oct 27, 2007 10:44AM
The last time I treated with SOC for just over 3 mos. and lost 15 lbs.  I was thrilled!  Back in my favorite jeans!!
During the Prove 3 trial we were instructed to take our doses with a 300-500 calorie meal, 30% of that being fat!!  We dosed the Telaprevir 3 times a day.
In my case, if I tried to take my doses with something lighter I paid for it and quickly learned the higher the fat content, the less gastro problems I had.
During my 6 mos. of taking the Telaprevir I gained up to 10 lbs. at one point! Even with all the nausea and vomiting I had.  Now that I've been off the Telaprevir for a couple weeks I have already lost 6 lbs. :-)  Whew!
Were others in earlier Prove trials also instructed to take your doses with high calorie/fat meals?
I'm curious if anyone else in the Prove trials gained weight on the Telaprevir??

Even though I wasn't on it for long, yes, I did put on weight.  And, it didn't take me very long to put it on either with all those added calories.  For me, the kicker was the eating late at night dose.  I never eat anything at that time of night normally.  As soon as I got back to my cutting off of all food by 7 to 7:30 pm, the pounds went away for me.

Well, it's good to hear I'm not alone!
Seemed like every time I turned around it was time to dose/eat again!!
