STARTING INFERGEN

Has anyone started treatment with Infergen and what is the dosage amount and the side effects.

Take a look at all these post. Do you know your numbers? ALT AST VL Genotype? Have you had a biopisy? Be sure that you know all the facts. Some people have little side effects (sx) some have a lot. Just make sure that you understand all that is conerned. Dosage is figured by your weighht and all the numbers.I do not know excatly how but your dr. will.

Yes, I have.  Several others here have also.  Keep posting and eventually they'll find you.  I did 15 mcg daily with riba, rescue drugs as well.  You can email or post me here anytime.

Lonestar, are you still on the treatment?  I was on for the last 6 mts.  VL went from 308,000 to 12,500 in six mts which was not a 2 log drop.  In Sept, doctor decided it was time to stop the treatment due to side effects I was dealing with - lost 34 lbs and very anemic - was also on procrit.  Seeing a hep dr in Dec.

Marl, I treated for 73 weeks.  I finished August 2006. I cleared late, about week 20-22 and didn't have great odds for svr.  My doctor asked me to try and stay on it after I cleared for one year.  I did and I don't know how.  Towards the end I was doing procrit three times a week.  Last Friday I received a call telling me I'm svr one year post.  
Marl, were you doing the daily 15 mcg or three times a week?  Six months on Infergen is surely tough enough. I can't imagine how you must have felt when your doctor took you off.  How are you feeling now?

Lonestar, I was doing the Infergen daily but they cut it down to 12 mcg along with 600 mg riba daily.  Two weeks after stopping treatment I was planting mums in my garden and painting my front porch steps.  Still tire easily, but feeling much better since stopping tx.  Prior to the 6 mts of Infergen treatment I was on Interfon/Riba for 14 weeks.  VL only went from 4m to 308,000 - that's when we made the switch.  Don't know what will happen next until I see hep doc in Dec.  Glad to hear your doing well.

Thanks for your comments.  The information you said I should know, I do.  I did two alpha-interferon treatments, one with injections three times a week  and one with an injection once a week.  Now my doctor has suggested Infergen.  I'm just trying to find out about it from people who are using it.
