SVR for me !!!!!!!!

SVR baby!

Gives new meaning  to the expression ..."they nearly killed me to cure me"!
Think Hep C tx is where that came from :)

My tx was a bit odd, 2 reductions… so I was a bit worried on this one  and with other issues going on.
I was quite blessed thru out this whole ordeal. Dx'd by an acupuncturist after years of Dr.s telling me 'your just depressed, your fine". Sent straight to Shands, got in fast to one of the best Dr.s. Got there just in time for a trial...all free tx! UND week 4. All 3 'jobs' held for me (one is my comp. but kept going by my partner)  family, friends rallied around me. Got to stay home thru tx and not worry too much. So much more. I am very blessed in many area's and I never forget that, despite any post tx issues....life is good! The rest will all fall into place.

To all starting out....you'll get here! To all that have tried and relapsed....your special in my heart as I want so much to see you beat this and I know how very devastating it is for you to hear 'detected'. There's a LOT of hope, just around the corner, keep thinking of that. And I'll still be around to see you get SVR!

I want to thank ALL of you, and some special few, that helped me soooo much in this whole journey. I came here scared, stupid in everything on Hep C and tx, and very unsure of what tx involved, the risk, the sides, whether to do it and so on. I could not have found the help, comfort, support, knowledge, firmness, laughter  and love I got here ANYWHERE else. I KNOW I would have quit tx by week 5  had I not been here, I wouldn't have known what was going on nor that it's all 'normal' in this. Other times I got the firm 'buck up and keep going'' that I needed. I can't express how much you all helped me thru this. I can only try to give some of that back to others coming here, starting out and scared.
I have met several here, had an amazing meeting, turn of events with another here all because of signing in on Med Help one day! I have made friends that I love, have many hopes for and will never forget, no matter where life takes me.

Hep C brought many good things to my life in the long run. You people are the best of what it brought. In that alone, this experience of over whelming support, heart warming kindness….was all worth it. And of course....so was this SVR!

Dmhrdh….I love reading these post too, but especially mine :)  :)  BTW…I started to get my 501c3 for the rescue and got too overwhelmed in paper work, details and had to stop for now (post tx, healing up, taking on too much too fast) I still hope to get that going (as I have 2 that need homes and 1 to a vet and sooo oooon!)

I have to say .. that was great news to wake to also. :)  I didn't realize you were that close already to your SVR date!!!!   I also have to say that your particular warmth and good spirit has made this journey more tolerable - your posts brighten up the place and are a good antidote.  It takes all kinds and I'm glad your kind was here.  Offsets the introverts like me. :)  

You also became a grandma during this time ... and while life seems to be on hold while we're on tx, yet it marches on still, doesn't it.  Take good care of yourself, I hope your post-tx issues clear up soon ... enjoy your SVR, your treatment was very difficult and you pushed hard forging through it day by day at times even and you did it.  

Congrats on your SVR Lauri and all the best to you as you continue forward.

What great news!  I'm sorry I took so long to post to this.  I was worn out by the flap on the political thread.

I had my 24 week blood draw yesterday and that has me nervous while I now wait for the results.

I am so happy for you.  It sounds like we need an SVR party!

   I had my 6 months post tx Viral Load last friday and am waiting on pins and needles for the result. The only damn blood test that takes so long to come back. At least my Alt and Ast are still normal. Will update yas in a few days.

I'm sorry that I haven't written sooner but I was sure you were SVR months ago.

I'm still glad to see that it's "official" now.  I sure hope that the next year brings you improved health and the gradual (scratch that; IMMEDIATE) improvement on sides from TX.


I'm one of the people who have had the pleasure of meeting Lauri.  She helped me get into a trial..... the current Vertex trial for treatment naives back in May.  They had 9 slots open and  with some help from her I was accepted.  As part of the trial they also provided a biopsy.  I have never had one before and this summer I got a great biopsy, great results (1/6 Ishak), a ride to the hospital and all star accomodations at her house for about a week.  Lauri has a very big heart and was going to help me limp thru treatment.  The only deal was....... my score was so good......that I decided that I could wait a bit longer for an even better treatment (and dropped from the trial after 1 week BEFORE dosing).  I've been a little conflicted all summer about my decision (and that's another thread and another story) but this sweet woman really went out her way for me.  IF I had gotten worse results I would have been fortunate to have been in the (IMHO) lead HCV trial.

I've read quite a few of Lauri's posts here.  I think you can tell a lot about a person from what you read in these posts; at least that's what I had thought.  When I finally met Lauri....... well......what can I tell ya?  

I was SOOOOOOO right.

She's smart, pretty, funny, kind.........and SVR too.  ; )

I never got around to writing a post explaining what all she did.  It would have been a 15 pager...... like some political threads.  : )

I just wanted to send my love....and thanks.....and congrats.

She's a great woman folks...... but be very careful when you eat at the local Mexican restaurante in her hometown.  She's also VERY sneaky.........

Trish.....what nice things to hear, my heads getting bigger, lol. One of the great things here is the variety of people, knowledge, personalities and different area's of support each offers. We each contribute in our ways, which is wonderful. Your tx....I have had a hard time following it due to the trial, break in trial, etc. and I am not on the Hep side as much anymore (oddly, I followed better on tx??) and I intend to follow your finish and outcome. I do think you'll get this fabulous SVR!
This year....dx'd with Hep may 07, bx July 07, started tx Sept. 07, SVR Aug 08 along with...turning 50 and my 1st grandchild! A hell of a year! I am grateful I was here thru it with all of you.

Jmjm....Yep, I snuck out on tx now and then on the bike. That one night it was about 28 degrees and suffered sooooo bad for days from shivering! But it was worth it! Timed the lights, stopped little :) On it as much as I can now. And BTW, you are truly invaluable here also! Your knowledge, advice......the best! Thanks much.

GSD ....Thanks! It's a d*m good feeling! I've saved thousands, really, of animals thru the years. I want to open a rescue and started on it, but realized I am taking on too much, too fast post tx. (Have a new biz also). In the meantime...still saving some at my cost!
Mostly dogs, cats tho my partner just opened a horse rescue in PR which is costing him thousands a month still!

Pkin....you had one of the most unusual tx's and I am praying you remain UND to SVR! I know it hit you hard. I went to a Dr. of Chinese med, acupuncturist to quit smoking! In her first exam, never met me in her life she say's "Something is very wrong with your liver! Go back to those Dr.'s and tell them to check your liver"...etc. I'll PM the whole story, quite interesting! Years of going to Dr.s hearing 'your fine'! She also said "and you need to eat meat"!!! Blew my mind! I don't eat meat! Rarely. She's quite reputable, trained with the best in several countries and is on state board of Fl. An amazing, wonderful woman!
And she did near all of my shots for me :)
