Shot 48 last night!

Well, hubby took his shot #48 last night. Soooo, another week of riba and his appointment with the doctor is next Friday.

They're going to have a discussion on whether to stop or extend since he had a VL of 33 week 12, and was UND (below 30) after that; the next test was week 16.  He's been on a clinical trial, and this was the only test used (below 30)

His spirits are VERY good, he feels great, and said he will be open to discussion about extending and wants to know his chances of SVR if stopping now.

He's 55, 1B, stage 2 level 3. He had 2 baseline VL results.
One was Mar 21, 1,654,868, and the next was May 26, 758,312.
He started treatment last June.

Will keep you posted!

Having just taken my 48th shot as well, I congratulate your spouse on making it through!  We know it's not an easy haul. If you decide that it is enough treatment now, I hope he sloughs off all the remaining side effects of the drugs very quickly. If you go on with treatment; best luck. You made it this far, you can go on!

Thanks Child,
I appreciate you and the great support you've always shown!!  No, it's not an easy decision, and the closer it gets the harder it seems to be!!
But thanks for your well wishes, and I send my best back to you!!
Hope everything is ok with Nick right now!! Give him a hug from me!
Hugs to you,
HTWife

Thanks,Sfbaygirl,
I'd appreciate that study if you find it.
What was your VL at 12 weeks, and why were you going to extend 12 more instead of 24?
It's a tough decision, and one not easily made!! He's not feeling well today. However, he hasn't felt well on a Sunday for the last 48 weeks!!
I think the thing that has been keeping him going more than anything else is the idea of stopping all this.
And again, the longer you're on these meds the more damage they can do to you in the long run!!
I wish it was a clear cut choice, but unfortunately it's not!:(
I'd appreciate any input.

As one who made it to week 47 and then was hit with lots of problems, I do have some opinions. I was supposed to go 12 more weeks and didn't. If I could have I probably would have. It is amazing the stats on how much better the odds are by extending if you are not clear at week 12. Having problems now that will last my whole life most likely from tx, it is hard to say...but I think if it were me and I was doing well I would probably have continued. I will try and find that study about extending. I forget what it is at the moment.  Congrats on making 48! I am still hoping that 47 was enough for me, as it could be for your hubby.  The problems I had hit me so fast I didn't know what happened. Remember these drugs are really dangerous, so when you make your decision keep that in mind.

Thanks Ladybug. The doctor said he could continue as a private patient if he decides to do that, which he hasn't made a decision about yet.

Myown, thanks for your prayers! We've done plenty of praying, and I appreciate all and any prayers we can get!!

Rosebud, thanks for your well wishes!

This has been an enligntening journey, indeed. I can truly say it has made us stronger in many ways.
I'll let you know what he decides, and just know you're always in my thoughts and prayers! I hope the best for all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! I'm glad to hear your husband is feeling good. After 48 injections and all that riba, we don't always hear the person feels good, so I am very happy for you both.

Whatever his decision is as far as continuing or stopping, I pray he gets his SVR!

Congratulations to you both whether he decides to continue or stop. 48 weeks is a long time and you have been so good to keep up with his tx and this forum!
I have know idea how you will be able to determine the right course since he's in a trial. I guess the dr will help decide or some one more knowledgeable can offer input. I just wanted to say, hey, week 48 is a big accomplishment, you both should be proud!
