Hey, sorry to read you're having such struggles with your appointment. A hepatologist is always the best choice, but just to get the ball rolling, you may want to look for a gastroenterologist that can at least get some tests going to determine the health of your liver.
Also, if you're willing to travel a bit, try and get an appointment with a physician in another city so you can get the testing done. At least that can give you some peace of mind should you find that your liver is healthier than you think it is. It's easy to go down a path of despair.
When I was diagnosed, I'd had HCV for 30 years. Coincidentally at the time, I'd been having symptoms like clay colored stools, fatigue, and a host of other symptoms in the HCV wheelhouse. I thought I was in end stage liver disease.
The short story, I had a biopsy and it showed a very mild level of inflammation and I didn't even register on the charts of liver disease progression. The light colored stools ended up being diet related. Of course, the fatigue and other symptoms could have been related to HCV, but the point is, the mind can go to a doom and gloom place based on very little information.
Your labs are only going to show so much and there is no blood test that will indicate the stage of liver disease that you have. You need to get, at minimum, a fibroscan or elastography to see where you're at.
Try not to stress too much in the interim. Chances are you're worrying needlessly with only 10 years of HCV.
Good luck and let us know how things go.
