If you type them in here, everyone will be very glad to help you understand what they all mean. We all had to learn the same exact way - by asking for HELP!!!!!!!!!!
The doctors don't explain squat and I guess some people really don't care - but us in here get CRAZY reading all the results, comparing them to the test results prior.......guessing where they might go next time......we are a really obsessive bunch of lunatics!
But we'd be glad to help if you want to take the time to copy it into here.
Just to expand a little on Beamishboy’s thoughts; an antibody test will probably say something like: anti HCV antibody- reactive or positive.
If you are looking for a test that confirms active viremia, try looking for the catch-phrase “ HCV serum RNA”. There are several assay methodologies used; PCR, TMA, bDNA, and assuming you are located in the U.S., will be expressed as a numerical quantity (quantitative) with results typically HCV RNA 1.42 million. This can also be expressed in Log format- HCV RNA Log 6.15, or as a positive/negative result (qualitative), i.e., HCV RNA reactive or HCV RNA positive.
I know, it seems confusing at first- it’d be so much simpler if they just said “yeah, you got the crud”! Let us know if you can find anything that resembles the above examples, and continue to hound Hepatology. Once you have results, let us know; we’ll be happy to help interpret.
Good luck,
Bill
test to confirm will merely acknowledge presence of antibodies..a 'viral load test' will give you a percentage per million of virons...i do hope your inability to find anything is correct..GOODLUCK.......and call the doc's office again&again&again...
