Speaking of Starting Treatment - Thank you all

I was away for a few days and this is the first chance I get to reply to all of you and thank you for all your responses.  It has been so helpful to get your feedback on the shot and all the other questions I have asked.  You have all helped me be so much more informed and brave to start the treatment.  Thank you again and I will keep you posted.

I will keep in touch.  I wondered what happened to you.  You dropped out for a while.

The first few weeks of treatment are the worst for most people, but we are all here for your support and questions and it does get easier as time goes by.

Yes ALWAYS get your prescriptions ordered BEFORE hand.  If you can work it out so you always have one extra BEFORE you pick up the next batch (and my insurance since approved for the whole time in advance ALWAYS let me) do it.  That way if anything should happen...something should break or you do it wrong or WHATEVER - you have a backup.

Twice when I used the dumb pens I had a problem...I was glad to get off of them for sure.

The mix it yourself worked much better for me (plus I felt like I was getting more cause of that stupid Pre-injection drop that comes out of the pen...no jokes FL I used to have a name for it but won't write it here).  ;)

Yes, I feel good about my decision and I can't wait to start now that I am ready.  I am starting end of August due to some travel plans and feels too far away.

I am glad to hear you are doing well.  If you go for 24 weeks, you are more than half way there.  So, hang in there.

Keep in touch.

You must be felling great now that you have made a decision.  Good luck with your treatment.

I am at week 14 now and managing as well as can be expected.  I am hoping that I am in the 24 week treatment so that I can start dreaming about swimming and hiking this fall when I complete treatment.  I have a long haul to get back into the shape I was in before treatment, but I have no doubt I will do it.

I am sure you will do well.  You seem to have a great attitiude plus youth is a great asset during treatment :).

One more tip before you begin.  Your meds might come to you from a mail order or 'specialty'  pharmacy as directed by your insurance company.  If so, many people get automatic refills - maybe every 4 weeks.  When you get your first supply of meds, wait a week or two before you start.  That way, if anything goes wonky in the refill process later on you have a built-in cushion of time to get any possible problems worked out.  Few people have such problems, but when they do there's usually a fair amount of freaking out wondering if the refill will arrive on time.  Staying on the med schedule is important when you are on treatment.

There is a slight downside to this concept, however.  I just received my last refill - a matter to almost celebrate.  Problem is that I have a few week's supply on hand. So although the end is nearer, it will take a little time to work my way to the real end.

Good luck.
