Steven Tyler coming to A.I.??

Hi everybody. This is off topic, which is why I've posted it on this side. Has anyone heard about Steven Tyler coming on to American Idol with J.Lo?  Evidentally, Ellen quit and Karla is being replaced and J.Lo is coming on to A.I. next season.  The last I'd heard Steven Tyler had been asked and was seriously considering it.  As many of you know, Steven Tyler had Hep C and did treatment.  Anyhow, just curious.  As I said, off topic...

I read an article yesterday afternoon that sums up what i was trying to say (but not as politely as I said). They would REALLY have to put a leash on Steven and I'm not exactly sure a 62 year old lecherous man l like him would be good around little girls.....(around grown women like me no problem though ;)
Personally I am hoping it doesn't happen because I just like him too much to have him humiliated and coming off worse than Paula (which is possible given just the way he is).

Let me find the article for you:

Steven Tyler radio interview proves dubious audition for 'American Idol' judging gig

Steven Tyler’s interview with the Kidd Kraddick radio show this morning was the equivalent of a first-round audition for the American Idol season 10 judges’ table, I’m not sure he’d have gotten a golden ticket to Hollywood. In fact, given the rambling, ineloquent answers he gave to questions about his rumored Idol gig, it wasn’t hard to envision him as one of those deluded hopefuls who wind up getting dragged from the audition room by security to the general amusement of Simon Cowell & Co.

In other words, if you were at all bummed by Fox chairman Peter Rice’s Press Tour announcement yesterday that there are no finalized deals in place for new judges for Idol‘s upcoming season, now would be the time to take a deep breath, look skyward, and thank the heavens that any ink on Tyler’s rumored contract is damp enough to get washed away.

At least that’s what I’m doing right this second. Here’s just hoping Ken Warwick and Cecile Frot-Coutaz are doing the same. Asked about how he’d approach judging wannabe singers, whether he’d be more like brutally honest Simon or sweetly sugarcoated Paula, Tyler responded: “I would be honest to the ones that think they have it, and I would be truthful and sensitive to those that have it but don’t have it yet enough, and I would tell ‘em exactly why, as i see it, if I was to do that.”

Um, dude sounds like a lady…named Paula Abdul!

Tyler was equally bizarre when he was asked to explain how the possibility of a spot in the Simon Cowell Memorial Chair came to be: “Well, you know, this beautiful girl from Fox came up to me and made an offer. I honored her offer.” ["All night long?" Kraddick interjected.] “I was off ‘er and on ‘er all night. No, um, y’know, and it’s just a work in progress. It’s one of those things. They mentioned it. And I listened. And we’re on tour, so I’ve gotta give it some time,” Tyler added.

Things got even worse when Kraddick’s comely cohort, Jenna Owens, performed an atonal rendition of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
After declaring the original working track was called “I Don’t Wanna Kiss Your Thing,” Tyler told Jenna that the performance “shows you’re vulnerable and I could have you later,” before making a borderline unintelligible joke to a male member of Kraddick’s team about “sharing her” later. I know a.m. radio is a different forum than Fox in the family hour, but is anyone else skeeved out by the idea of a 60-something rocker making lecherous remarks toward the next incarnation of Jordin Sparks or Katie Stevens?

Oh, and shall we launch into Tyler’s discussion of how the world’s first recorded song was the sound of a woman’s orgasm? No, we shall not.

Okay, Idoloonies, who’s ready to start petitions on behalf of Elton John, Harry Connick Jr., Jody Watley, or Linda Perry? Heck, how about Kara DioGuardi? Or Lulu even? Or are you in the camp that thinks Tyler would be an amazing Idol judge? If so, listen to the Kraddick interview embedded below, then make your case in the comments! I'm not an Ellen fan either and not taking anything form Steven but I have been infatuated with Bret Michaels forever.  My vote goes to Bret

Personally, I like Steven Tyler's music with Aerosmith, too!  However, given a choice when watching A.I. between Steven Tyler and Ellen Degeneres, I'd watch Steven anyday!!  Not an Ellen fan here....   Anyhow, I may tune in to A.I. again next season now that Ellen's off of there.  I just don't care for her comedic style, if you can call it that.  But, that's my opinion and I completely understand that there are others who love Ellen's comedy and will miss her.  Susan400

Just saw this and damn duh duh duh what was he thinking there goes any hope for any new aerosmith music in the future. After all that to get back together WHY do this stupid show.....make music dude!
------------------------------------

Steven Tyler's plans to join American Idol have infuriated his Aerosmith bandmates - guitarist Joe Perry has criticized the singer for keeping the news from the rest of the group.

There are currently two empty slots on the TV talent show's judging panel and rumours have been rife over who will replace Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres, who quit after just one season.

Tyler is one of many stars linked to a judging role, and the rocker confirmed this week that he has spoken to executives at TV network Fox about joining the show.

But the revelation came as a shock to Tyler's bandmates, with Perry criticizing his pal for not sharing his plans.

The guitarist has also spoken of his fears for the future of Aerosmith if the frontman does decide to step in front of the cameras as an American Idol judge.

Perry tells the Boston Herald, "I found out on the internet like the rest of the world... I mean, this is no small thing.

"I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn't tell me about this... Why so secretive? We're told it's a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We'd like to plan our lives, ya know?"

Tyler unexpectedly quit the band last year, and the rockers decided to audition for a new singer so they could continue plans for a tour and a new album, but Tyler's lawyers blocked the move and he subsequently rejoined them.

PS I'd use Steven, JLo, Harry Connick Jr., Bret Michaels.....all the ones who want to do it and then see which got the best response. Plus I think that would make it really interesting.

And as everyone knows, there is no bigger steven fan than me.......but I think that would appeal to more folks.  Just what I"d like to see personally.

I'm hoping honestly that it's a bunch of people doing short stints - not a whole season of Steven and JLo.. Steven is an awesome human being who can be extremely goofy and funny but to some his rhyme scheme talking and manner come off as very abrasive and I am not sure a whole season would be so brilliant.

Honestly, I wish he'd just get back to writing new music. I mean jez it's been YEARS come ON already!
