Stopped 5 Month Ago

by Drugs Sucks, Sep 28, 2007 10:14PM
Hi Everyone
It been awhile since I been here and figure I should pop in now and then !
I am genotype 1 A   Grade 2,  Stage 2 and my viral load was over 12 mil before I started the TX the first time and stayed on the TX for 9 month before I had to stopped due to my WBC was down to the lowest point along with my RBC  and I Pushed and Pushed my Doctor to Keep me on the TX  even knowing I was so close to 0 on my viral load, it was down to 580...

After a year off the TX, My viral load went back up over 2 mill again, I went back on the TX and was only on it for 4 months before my WBC dropped low again and the log didn't drop at all..

So now I am waiting for next year to come and try that new trial test of the In hauler and Pills!!

Keeping the chin up can be one of the hardest thing !!!!

Way to Go !!  Up Grading Site !!!

Did your doctor allow rescue drugs like neupogen and procrit? My assumption is that you did not attain undectible at week 24 (6 months). What is this inhaler you speak of?

Exercise and stay healthy as you can. God bless.

In a few more years hep. C will just be a memory for all of us. You do have an excellent attitude.

"No matter what happens you can always find the positive. In order to do that, you must count your blessings."

Yes, I agree, it could be a lot worse. I finished tx 2 weeks ago.

Yes he did ( Doc) and my drug insurance wouldn't pay for it !! That because the FDA doesn't recognize it with the Hep C Meds.
Those Meds u talk about neupogen and procrit are Only for cemo pat. according to the FDA.
Tryed and Yelled and I didn't get any help anywhere to bring my Blood count back up..

So my WBC & RBC Dropped fast on the 2 round and, so I didn't Pushing any more after 3 months even knowing I could of handle a few more months ( MAYBE ) so why take that chance..
WBC 7 %. RBC 9 %

First round I did 9 months and and PUSHED the Last 3 months and my Doc didn't like it, advise me NOT TOO and I almost ended up in the hospital.
WBC down to 5 %,  RBC 7 %

Sorry about your situation.

it SUCKS that you weren't given rescue drugs.

My WBC dropped from over 5 pre-TX to1.3 in the first 3 weeks so Dr. put me on twice monthly neupogen to allow me to continue treatment.  (now on week 42 of 72)

Levels have never risen above 2.8 but at least they're in the LOW instead of the ALERT stage.

Some folk have to be on the neup twice a week.  My first injection was at a hematologist (I now self-inject) and when i got the bill I felt ill.  Over $500 for one injection.  TG my insurance is covering it.

Hang in DS,

wyntre

Do you have a hepatologist instead of a gastro? Hepatologists regularly use those helper drugs. I had no trouble getting procrit. I didn't need the other one but the WBC did get low at the end of tx.
