Study finds pharmaceutical drugs in tap water

The drugs get into the water through human waste. When people take medicine only some of it is absorbed by their bodies. The rest passes through and is flushed down the toilet. It is treated at least twice before it reaches consumers, but most treatments do not remove all drug residue.

Resistant to treatment

Some drugs, including widely used cholesterol fighters, tranquilizers and anti-epileptic medications, resist modern drinking water and wastewater treatment processes. Plus, the Environmental Protection Agency says there are no sewage treatment systems specifically engineered to remove pharmaceuticals

The Environmental Working Group (EWG) reported that it had tested 29 Midwestern cities and towns and found that all had herbicides present in the drinking water. In one Illinois city, they found that the level of the weed killer cyanazine in the public water supply was 34 times above the federal standards. The EWG estimated that 20 to 25 million Americans are now drinking water polluted with herbicides. Research in laboratories has shown a higher incidence of cancer and birth defects in animals fed with food containing herbicides

More old news. It's been known for years that you can find Prozac in fish downstream of big cities where people flush their SSRIs down the toplet. Try not to torture yourself about that glass of wine. Go to MickeyD's, get yourself a nice Fillet O' Fish, and try to relax.

I prefer getting my water from the world's most remote and pristine Aquafirs. No drugs, just pure water with a splash of plastic residue :)

I assume you were referring to someone else's post? The reference in my post was to bottled water such as Evian, etc, which usually comes in a plastic bottle. And yes, drinking alcohol on tx is not very smart.
