So right on getting more input, advice here!
On the drinking water thing.....it is not really for the mouth issues, it is a MUST in tx as per fatigue, symptoms. Most of us kept a gallon water jug bu our beds. Believe me, when I didn't drink enough water, the fatigue was the worst. The same goes for over exerting yourself. Example : If you used to mow your whole lawn, and can't now, don't! Pushing yourself you will suffer the next day or more! I remember trying to rake my yard and couldn't do a third of it, pushed that (despite all the oldies here saying DON'T! :) and suffered for it. TLC yourself all you need to thru this, it's deserved!
Hang in there! LL
OMgosh...I totally forgot that one. Tx is the only time I will ever admit to using Vagisil on my mouth. Sounds ewwwww, but works great.
I used equal parts liquid benadryl and malox. Mix it up and swish and spit. Worked great for me. As for the dry mouth I just kept sipping water. Also the burning tongue turned out to be thrush from the meds, nothing tasted good and the swish and spit did help.

I had the sore tongue. But the worst was the corners of my mouth felt like like they were burned. Magic mouth helped the inside. I went to the dentist and he said I had a fungus- yeast infection. He said use an anti- fungual like monistat. I rubed it on the corners of my mouth in one day it was 100% better, It works
I'm using both the magic mouthwash and the Oasis. The mouthwash helps numb it so you can swallow easier. The Oasis helps with the saliva. They don't make it go away but do ease it for me.

I usesd Biotene mouth rinse whenever that sx popped up. As far as foods burning your mouth...just stay away from them. I';m 9 weeks post tx and still can't eat my beloved japaleno peppers. But that's ok...I've replaced them with ice cream.
Always ask your doc about these things, but post them here too. So many of us had had so many different sx, usually you'll find something that works for you.
Good luck to you

Both interferon and riba are very dehydrating. A few of the side effects can be relieved with other meds and OTC's (the Oasis is a great suggestion), but there are a few that will come along (like the dreaded hair thinning) that just have to run their course. Keep up the water intake (your body will clue you in) and mention SX to your doctor as they come along so he can help manage them. You're doing fine.
I found a product called Oasis, its a spray sold over the counter. It was a big help with the dry mouth, especially at night. I did not have the sores, but I had bad dry mouth til I found Oasis. Good luck.

The mouth and tongue thing is treatment related. A lot of people get that on treatment. I never found anything that really worked for me but some people swear my "Magic Mouthwash" or some such thing. Someone will come on and give you the name.
And yes, it is horrible.
Good luck,
Mike
