Test Results/Diuretic Information

Good Day:
Since we're speaking of Blood levels and I said I would post them, here I go.
ALT 106H (5-68) AST 52H (10-40)

Some of you may go WOW!!! these are high and yup, they are, BUT one year ago they were:

ALT 239H (0-45), AST 117H (0-33).

Hubby has just finished first month of treatment with HCV 3a.  His levels have been slowly, but steadilly dropping since he switched Epilepsy Meds.  Started tx March 2/07 so doubt that the drop is due to Peg.  Shows how meds can drive levels up and absence or change of meds can make them drop.  SO, we're very happy about these new numbers although to most they seem still very high. White and red cell count a little low. NP says due to Riba.

His sodium, potassium, chloride, electrolytes are all low.  Yup, he eats bananas every day. :O) Discovery was that Trileptal (Epilepsy med) and diuretic Indapamide (Lozol) both lower sodium levels AND here comes the biggest tick off..

""The following reactions have been reported with clinical usage of indapamide: jaundice (intrahepatic cholestatic jaundice), hepatitis, and abnormal liver function tests. These reactions were reversible with discontinuance of the drug.""

The comment regarding Hepatitis and Abnormal Liver function tests is showing up on every "Medical" website including the manufacturer's own.  They ALL stated as well, that Indapamide SHOULD NOT BE GIVEN to those with Liver Disease.

I've posted the above just in case anyone else here might be on this particular type diuretic. It would seem from my research that ALL diuretics can cause sodium, potassium, chloride and electrolytes to be out of whack.

Sorry this is so long BUT hubby's has first Viral Load test to-day since starting treatment only 4 weeks ago. NP says accuracy at this early stage is only 50/50 but a drop would indicate a more immediate response.  Here's hoping.
GSD

The manufacture clearly states on their website...Lozol (Indapamide) should NOT BE GIVEN to those with liver disease.  Hubby's been on this for a year now.
