The journey has begun! Week 1 ...24 to go!!

Hello to all you wonderful folks! Well today was my first day. I took my first injection at 4:07 with the pills.   So 7/1/08 will be my start date and I pray 24 weeks from now, I will have good news for all!!!   And in between I can be a helpful part of this awesome group, who have helped get me to this point! As some of you know, there were days I was going to turn and run the other way!  But I took it like a woman!
The lance smack in the belly like a brave little dragon tamer!

No sides yet... but It has only been 3 hours.... I feel like I am sitting here waiting for a bomb to go off or something.

I want to thank you all for your patience in answering all my newbie questions, and just being there! Now I feel like I am going slowly up the roller coaster....and I guess I wont know till the morning or middle of the night just how harrowing a ride this will be. OR NOT!!   I choose for not! I am going to  use   some  visualization.....Merry Go round...not Roller coaster!! :) :)

Well I guess we will know soon enough, if  I will be riding a white stallion with a candy colored pole, with some gentle ups and downs and dizzyness,  or Space Mountain from hell !!!  I hated Space Mountain!

A Merry Go Round sounds great right now!

Wishing all a peacful night,
Dragon Tamer

Well it wasn't Space Mountain thank God!!!   But a little faster than a merry go round.  I  think I was gettting a little cocky around 10 PM...feeling nothing at all... like this is no biggie...
I was doing well till I finally drifted off and awoke not much later, with all the text book flu like symptoms, chillls then sweats ect...  couldn't sleep.... it was just yukky, like my body was surcombing to an alien force :(   Well you all know the feeling. Finally did get back to sleep...today has been slow going but nothing like last night.

It felt like I was in one of those vampire movies.. you know when the person is transforming into the vampire for the first time....the symptoms hit so quick and hard....then eased off today....  just tired from all the loss of sleep. But don't worry  I don't have any desire to bite any one in the neck, so that is a plus!!!  :)

On to day two!!!!!   Charge!!!!!

Thanks for all your support!!!!

Dragon Tamer

Good luck to you on your treatment!!  That first night I waited for the bomb to drop too.  Then I noticed that if I paid too much attention I'd find sides where there weren't any - if they exist, they'll find YOU, believe me.  And then you'll deal with them.  It's about 2-3 weeks in that the ribavirin starts to make it's presence known it seems and then you might notice the fatigue hitting harder .. however, again...it'll find YOU so just enjoy every good day and make the most of the good times .. fill them with things that you  enjoy.  I find that giving myself mental energy gives me physical energy - things that energize my mind keep my spirits up and help my physical energy.  We are all different, so whatever gets your juices going, do those.

Best of luck.

I felt just like you thinking I would be hit like a wrecking ball. The first 2 weeks were fine, light nausea and a 3 day chemical headache. Around week 3-4 I developed a rash that is like fire ants under my skin. Some more fatigue but I was still able to run about 3 x's a wk and work about 30 hours a wk. Now week 4-6 blood levels dropped, anemia set in and I need to get shots for that. Two shots one for the WBC and one for RBC. Increased fatigue and desire to be supine. Still able to work not running or dancing as much but trying to keep up w/Pilates. Stairs do wind me now and I can't run uphill. With gravities assist and my dogs dragging my carcass I can still run downhill. As my NP said keep doing what you have always done and then just scale back when needed. Don't anticipate the sides just know that you are DRAGON TAMER and all is yours that you survey. Not every one has sides. Know that it is doable by all that have gone before you. Take care and enjoy life whenever you can.

Andromeda - check your bartholin glands...

They are the lubrication glands located to the left and right of your vaginal entrance.

If those are "plugged" or have any problems - you need to see a specialist.

I had one swell up to the size of a golfball --- prior to being infected with HCV.

It can be very painful - it can be an issue that you need to have corrected. Check with your gynecological doctor.

Best of luck!  I started my treatment two weeks ago (3rd shot on Friday) and the first week wasn't too bad at all.  A bit of mental fuzziness and some tiredness a for a few days after the shot.  Also a really really low level headache for the first day.

The second week has been a little rougher with a measles-like rash over a lot of my body (mostly places where I seem to get hot or sweaty not too itchy fortunately.  I've also developed swollen lymph glands in my groin area for about 5 or 6 days now and they are painful but seem to be getting better..  Yesterday and today I had enough weakness/tiredness that I had to take a day off work to regroup.  It's not horrid but it's pretty annoying.

You may very well be sitting there for months waiting for the bomb...

Some folks don't feel it at all

Some have tired, flu feelings

And some are laid flat out... LOL!

Much luck that you go for the 1st or 2nd one.

Hugs!

Congrats!
