They only love spam in Hawaii

This will get me in much trouble, but this board has become unusable for me anyway, so I think a bit of truth as I see it is a good parting gift.

We have been flooded with spammers, it is a common tactic on any message board and especially effective on this board because if we try to question a post, we get rebuked for being unkind to a "newbie".  Now there are some newbies here and I still recognize the old timers, but mixed in with them, are so many folks, masquerading as Hep C sufferers and spamming our board.

I wouldn't even venture a guess as to whether it is Vertex, wanting to stop the sharing of info or to folks in the investment community, wanting to stop the sharing of info, but it is still a fact that THIS BOARD IS UNREADABLE, and full of new people and posts that are sometimes ridiculous, they waste our time and then they are gone.

Man, I love jmjm for his "librarian" take and I love "bug" cuz I know she's gotta be that cute, and I admire nygirl for her warrior soul.  Kalio, Grand oak, Forseegood, you all know who you are, you all are the greatest.  But I hate spam, I'm not Hawaiian and we cannot have a conversation here without being dumped on, too much to sort out and too much stimuli.  That is the way spammers work.  I am so sad, beyond anything I could put in words, that all this has happened to us.  

I am old, but not resistant to change, I will find another place to post.  I have to give a bittersweet salute to whomever decided to trash this place, but that is what it is like now, a beautiful place, all littered up by fools, ruining it for the people who need it most.  What a ****** up way to make a living.

Have to agree willows, these forums have taken a nose dive ever since site admins came on and tooted(touted) their own horn about their success..Hope it is paying off for them,seems many of the oldtimers are slowly leaving here. Please let us know if you find a better hep forum...Maybe janis' or ron metcafs (I see it changed a bit also )

I don't believe willows meant spam as in emails. I believe he is talking about the flood of new questionable(maybe not, but certainly suspect) posts on the hepatitis forum..It has become far to chit-chatty, to general medical..impossible to separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak..

I am as guilty as the next person. Posting in the wrong site. We can't afford to lose those who have gone before us and have so much info to share. So to all us (somewhat) newbies here, let's keep the chit-chat to the community forum and the hepititis (hepatitis) forum for medical questions. It is for our benefit. I would have been completely lost if mikesimon, nygirl, jmjm, ladybug, (I can't remember everyone..blame it on brain fog (sx?) and many many others were not here to offer assistance, advice and support. illo...congratulations on lab results.

Don't know where to start but to plunge... ha ha!  Look, it is good to speak our minds and sometimes it doesn't make us popular and/or opens us up for attack... Willow is giving her opinion and the way she sees it.  Yep, she is a 'she' ... one of her posts said after a bx, "I was weepy...Hey, I'm a girl!" ... which I thought was cute... I digress...  But hope she's not referring to the bulk of the newer members as spammers... I'm sure she's not.  Been watching from a distance, being new here... but I have just as much right to speak as someone here for only one day or 10 yrs.... there's no pecking order that I see, and if I did, wouldn't conform to it (because it ain't mention in the rules) but that's just me....but there seems to be some underlying attacks here that seems to stem from past history.... To tell you the truth some of us need to remember that Laughter is the best medicine, and corn cobbs never work as recliners, everyone is usefull except when it comes to money, and if you watch stupid reality TV shows I am sorry you have wasted an hour of your life each day longing to see Paula slap Simon, As she sways in a drunken stuper.

So maybe it is time to share a meal with a vegitarian at your favorite steakhouse, or stick your hand in a fish tank filled with man eating piranahs, Or you can argue that the producers of The Biggest Loser are racists because they won't let you on the show because you are too thin.

Whatever the problem is I can garuntee you someone out there has it a lot worse than you but they still find time to laugh and smile.

Since finding this outlet and finding a few kindred spirits i've found a place to give and get encouragement and will continue to give and let give. I noticed early the 'flock' of the 'oldies' and wanted to tread softly so I could participate and recieve. 'Paranoia will destroy ya' seems that is driving force for some that's been around too long??? Don't know but not seeing anything that was mentioned but do see and active group that wants to share and hope together. I have only been here 5-6 weeks and found a lot of support and encouragment from several that posted here just today. Sorry to see you go but you gotta go with your heart... I think there is an aversion to speaking about anything alternative here.  Just a guess, but I am the only one doing that, and the only one attacked.  This is not unusual when a site has either medical personnel or people assoc with the pharma industry either directly or indirectly.  This is an attempt of a discredit on my character.  No big deal.  I still hope and wish everyone here SVR Forever, and I do post things as I find them or use them.  I have no financial ties to anything.  I am honest about everything.  When I posted my friends site, I asked people to tell me if I were out of line.  No one did. Nope, I got nothin' to be sorry or regretful about.

Now, if the people railing about me, would only think of what they might have done to me, or you, behind our backs, and come clean, they'd probably feel better about everything.  Just a thought.

Probably too late for you to read this post , but I wanted to say "I get it!" It took me a little bit of time going through old posts before I discovered what you meant.  It looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, but is still spam.
I don't take the time to read every post, there have been a lot of strange things going on here, and I don't like being exclusionary, but this stuff has been going on for at least a few weeks.
Post again when you get the results of your biopsy,hope it's good news. You can always come on under a new name, that seems to be a trend here also.

you are like a breath of sweet air in the middle of the "pork" jokes here, talk about "validated" my worry, I think a lot of the replies here to my post did just that.  But thank you for remembering about my bx, you are a genuine old timer now and a name that none of us will forget.

I'm just waiting, pins and needles, for the results.  I'll drive myself, this time, to Seattle for the news.  

So many  of the new posters, I get the feeling that bx or tx or the sx are jokes, while I love folks with a sense of humor and do a LOT of laughing myself, it's pretty hard for me to find a lot to laugh about from IFN.  Cept the brain fog, I remember someone once telling us they tried to use the tv remote to open the garage door!!

Now we get folks who don't seem to demonstrate too much knowledge about IFN.  I know once Hep C touched me, I couldn't google fast enough to learn what I needed to know.  And once I got touched (whammied) by interferon, well, I became a different person too.  But I promise I will stay Willow and let you know in two weeks what the ole doc says.  It might be useful to someone to know what docs are prescribing for non-responding old Heppers these days.  I know I'm pretty darn interested.

Have a good one, bug, I was just lurking and laughing  a bit at the silly people and being a bit sad too, but when I saw your sweet post, I had to answer.  Take good care of yourself, bug, really good care, these people will need you.
