Wyntre's relatives links

Venus, Wyntre and flock say happy Easter.

For those of you who want to see what Wyntre looks like, here's a link to some of the relatives at Brooklyn College.

(BTW, Wyntre is from the New Jersey colony)

You love your kids! Shows so much in all that fun you had with them. So great you videoed it too. Nothing beats a fun childhood for memories.
And you already have Halloween planned too! what a great grandma! What does he call you, or you call yourself. I'm suppose to be Gigi.
BTW, our little one will be 8 months on the 17th, not crawling, but pushes up to sit and pulls up to stand. Is that wierd that she hasn't crawled yet? Believe me, we do everything to encourage the crawling. I use all my developmental techniques from E.C.I and she's a tough case. She gets pretty irritated and manages to roll away or sit up.
Take care,

LoL..... I bet that's a site to see!!! I really look forward to doing all that kind of stuff again.... Kind of like recapturing my youth.. Ha!

When my kids were growing up in Ga. (Chicken Capitol of the world..LoL) No  Surprise every town claimed to have the "Worlds Largest Easter Egg Hunts"... we even drove over to Cleveland once (Home of Xavier Roberts Cabbage Patch Kids) to try to win the dolls..... but my kids were lousy easter egg finders...LoL (we never did get one).... The girls pitched such Fits we wound up going over to BabyLand General Hospital & watching the "BIRTH" & Of-course they just HAD to want to adopt em... Shish

That wound up being a sneak trip out the back door for their dad to go to a local retail store to snag two that were affordable & us saying someone else already adopted those babies we watched being birthed....HeH, HeH... worked like a charm.... I still have that event video taped... Ha!

I got my grandsons basket over @ Lillian Vernon... I go to the "Lilly's Kids" web-site because they have affordable little gifts & even personalize some items at no extra charge (I used to get their wish book in the mail)... I was buying him a corduroy rocking horse about a month ago & while I was there it had a link back to it & their easter section @ lillianvernon.com under the toddler gifts... I just looked & they don't have that one anymore... but they have one similar with actual stuffed critters that you don't have to unzip... if I had of seen it first, I might would have bought it instead! However next year he'll be more interested in Candy & stickers & all the cool stuff...LoL

Our colored egg tradition actually started when my grandpa waited till the last minute one year to buy the extra dye kits & being a small Town the store was sold out... so my granny was being ingenious & showing us how they used to do it in the "OL" Day when she was a kid & they couldn't run out to the store to go buy things.... I think she was actually trying to teach us that you don't have to have money... just gotta be crafty... but we all got so tickled with it... that we did it every-year afterwords!

I've done it with the straw for my kids... but I never have been able to find any more of those Indian Ricks.... those must of been indigenous to the area! Ha!

Okay, I'm already looking forward to Halloween... instead of trick or treating... "The GREAT PUMPKIN" comes.... & leaves goodies (kind of like the easter bunny).... I get those pumpkin pales & full them with all kind of stuff, candy, stickers, confetti, pencils, toys... you name it..... Hey It's a LOT Safer...Except I already bought him an alligator outfit...LoL

The Easter Basket sounds so cool! Where did you find it? I know the grandbaby's other grandmother would have found something cool like that, I just didn't think of it soon enough. And I'm lazier!
I love Easter too. You have some great memories. We always had the great Easter egg hunt with all the cousins for our kids till they got too old. Mainly used money in the eggs when they got older. You're dyed eggs from straw and
powder from indian rocks sound like artwork!
I miss the Easter egg hunt. I have some friends who are all married with kids and even grandkids and they're parents still give them an Easter Egg hunt with money every year. There's so much competition between them it's a surprise no one gets hurt!
Take care of that Grand Boy!

wyntre9... I really liked that link.... Especially the ballard... Too Cute! Yup to be so small... they sure are a hearty bird!

LadyBug..... LoL  we did die some eggs,,, but that was more for my oldest daughter... she's a 22 year old Big Kid & wanted to play with the Marbleizing Kits... Ha!

I just got my grandson a soft Bunny Basket with a big stuffed bunny & the eggs where like stuffed animals too... you unzip them & turn them inside out & they turn into a critter... The basket was a quilted thing.... he seems to like them... I can't wait till next year & the next.... That's when it's gonna get fun & I get to start hiding eggs & stuff....

Easter has always been one of my favorite Holidays... I have found childhood memories of the Ham Dinners after church & all the family (a Gazillion cousins) coming over for the GREAT Easter Egg Hunt.... we had prizes & got money for various eggs... but the "Golden Egg" was worth the big bucks.... My Granny used to die the Special egg by boiling it in a pot of straw from the field... It was always the most beautiful golden shade...LoL

Our purple & pink eggs (the other money eggs) where dyed from the powder inside the hollow Indian rocks...LoL

You are absolutely right as usual! It was just an accident and he was trying to get you in trouble. Trouble makers should be dealt with swiftly and severely or they will continue trying to stir things up. You were the victim here, Elaine, you decide what his discipline should be. Remember, we don't punish, just discipline to  help him learn from this!

OK!!  I'll bring camera to school and let you know if I can post or not.

We have a couple of office ladies who take care of the aviary. I call them birdie elves, because they look so cute in there when they're feeding the birds.

One of them is starting a bird rehab center when she retires, at least that's what she wants to do.

It would be great...people don't know what to do with wounded or discarded wild animals.

There's a rehab center close to where I live. We found a baby squirrel in our flowerbed once. It must have been no more than a couple of weeks old. I looked it up on the internet, decided it must be a squirrel, found directions on how to take care of one, drove it to the center the next day, and a few weeks later they called me and told me he had developed into a full sized squirrel!

I asked, tail and all? They said, oh yes, a full bushy tail!!

They have volunteers who take care of the animals around the clock, and when it's time they finally release them into a protected environment.

A worthwhile cause!!

Beautiful birds. Parrots are my favorite. I thought they were only in exotic rain forest areas.
We had 3 chicks and a duck one Easter. I know, bad idea, but we "won them" on an Easter egg hunt. Dogs took care of the chicks while I was out buying a cage, and my 18 month old (at the time) drowned the duck trying to make it take a drink. The babysitter thought it was hysterical. Always wondered if it was my son or her! She didn't last too much longer. On his two year b-day, he received duck hats, duck shirts, duck toys, from his aunts and uncles! That's my relative link!

Fine looking family you have there, Wyntre!!

The song is hilarious~~

We don't have birds now, but have had cockatoos, cockatiels, and parakeets.
My kids still laugh about them...they are scaringly human!!

At my school we have an enclosed atrium full of parakeets with nesting boxes. They're fun to watch! They frequently have babies and the little ones are so cute poking their heads out of the nesting boxes. There are various other birds that I don't know the names of. One is a sort of quail that runs around on the ground.

When the kids are good they can earn 30 minutes of "sitting inside the atrium reading time!" They love it because the whole school passes by and can see them in there.

Happy Easter to you, Venus and the other Wyntre!!!

We had an Easter chick too (this was me as a child), but he grew up to be a rooster!!!
Imagine that!!!

I remember  rocking him in our little rocking chairs, and his head would stay in one place while his whole body rocked back and forth!!

Our neighborhood wouldn't allow chickens, so my parents took all of us and drove him to a hen farm where we left him. They told us he would be the happiest chicken there, but of course we didn't get it until like 20 years later!! (We were a little slow!)

Nice family!

I became a ma ma myself 2 years ago to a cockatoo.  He sure is a stink pot.
since tx I haven't been able to spend much time with him and he's getting real mad.

I've been trying to get my husband to bring his cage from the patio to our upstairs.  he's loosing his language skills and now he'd rather bark like the dogs.

I think I'll go downstairs today and let him out of his cage to play ball.
I'm feeling guilty.
he started plucking some of his feathers so I got to do something.

He loves to cuddle, but before he gets near me he's getting a bath.  He can be a dirty bird.

Your bird does sing and talk right?
they can be the life of the party where just can't stop laughing oh but they can be squackers .

off to play with my poppin's
He loves his popcorn!
and believe it or not he eats chicken.  He's a cannibal.

Oh yes, we had a fitting funeral! He was properly buried in the backyard along with turtles, lizards, hamsters, and various other creatures (even a wasp!)

It's tragic when a pet dies, especially for kids because they get so attached to them. It's going to be traumatic when our basset goes...he's 13 years old and getting more feeble all the time!!

If I can't find any pics of the aviary, I'll bring my camera to school and take some. Hopefully I can post them here.

Nice birds!!
What is it that draws us to them? Is it their songs, thier magically ability to defy gravity, soaring through the sky, hopping about, ever present and so appealing?
A few windy days ago a tom and three hens came gobbling through. An hour later, following thier scent was a young, healthy alert coyote. He lost the track in the wind, or didn't like being close to the house, and trotted up the hill.
I'm just happy the hummingbirds are busy and like the oak tree as a perch.
   Happy Spring !!

Funny song. I never had a bird. I guess you've seen all those birds in Edgewater right? Is Wyntre from that group?

MO,

I believe my Wyntre is from the feral Edgewater Colony.  She and her mate appeared two and a half years ago.  For the next 8 months they would hang out near my house all day long but in the evening they always flew east, toward the Hudson River, which is where Edgewater is.

I think they were nesting in a nearby park that lies in that same direction.

In November of that year, something must have happened to the mate coz Wyntre started showing up alone.

I used to dread finding him/her frozen on my deck as it was a very cold and early winter.  At the time, i didn't know how strong and adaptable Quakers are.

On December 21, 2005, when I got home from work, I saw him/her sitting in one of the extra cages on my deck, waiting for me.

That's how he/she came into my life.

Web, follow the other links in the one I posted and you'll see clips from a movie/documentary about the Brooklyn Quaker Colony.

Hawke,

glad the coyote didn't get his snack today.

LB,

ya never answered my question.  how ya feeling?

I remember you saying you once had a Quaker.

I'll bet that little bird is doing just fine.

If he hasn't found a Quaker flock, he's probably hanging out with the locals, like Wyntre did for months before deciding she/he wanted the good life.

I thought Wyntre may have been from Edgewater. I never realized these birds all hung out in this one spot. I was with my brother in law and he pointed them out to me. I couldn't believe that I never noticed them before. And I still don't understand how they survive our winters.

They have made it really nice down there on the water now, but they are getting telephone numbers $$$ for those townhouses, but its the view of NYC of course.

But the funny thing is my brother in law (a contractor) was building on the water down there and the smell from the Hudson was making him so sick in the summer.LOL Imagine paying all that money and in the summer you can't even sit out on your balcony. But maybe now they were able to clean it up a little better.

I would be the lucky one to see a dead body float down the river and put the 4 sale sign up the next day.
