thanks as this dr said that there is no cream that she is aware of but I know that the first doctor I had said that if I get any sore let him know but I never did as he cut the dose back as he had to put me on that Procit as my blood levels were extremely low.  So, I guess in that case that is what saved me from getting them that first time and second time as well.  NOW on the other hand this doctor is treating me weight based no matter what happens to my blood levels and we have fought this full force as I want this to be gone.

I didn't have this problem but  when eating bit like when eating spicy or citrus based foods and then the GI told me the other day to watch the soduim as that can play as a factor so I have started that as well.

I had a sore tongue and occasionally a sore spot in my mouth, but used Biotene mouthwash as well and it helped. but my tongue was sore mostly thru out treatment.   I am starting to like food again, but so far havent gained weight, infact lost a few more lbs.     I even ate some tomatoe based food this week and it didn;t bother me like while on treatment.    I have been off tx for 5 weeks now.
going next week for a cbc to see where my levels are and then to GI in 10 days or so.    Will see if can get him to do a PCR sooner than 6 mos.

I had the sores on my tongue for all 72 weeks of treatment - what helped was ice cream :)

EVERYTHING else started to get dreadfully spicy and there's nothing I loved more than spicy food. Oh it was pure hell because it smelled so good but even the most watered down chicken wing made me want to cry.

But nothing else really worked on them for me at all.  About a week after I stopped taking the interferon they were gone for good and never came back :)

Yes the Prevacid I take is because of the liver damage that I already have due to the Hep-C and have to be on that 2 times a day for right now at least until they do another bx and find out what stage my liver is in, but the tortillas and eggs I didn't think were spicy until later on when my mouth starting getting really sore.  They told me to watch the sodium as that is also a factor.

We have to put all our trust and faith in the Lord that all us get better and for those that encounter this later there will be better medicine to treat the Hep-C

I have only 4 shots to go and then I will have final CBC and pray this tx did the trick.

You have a Merry Christmas,

It is kinda funny when I look back.  My co-workers were eating some homemade spiced peanuts and I told them that my mouth was on fire but they said they weren't hot at all.

On Tues. my daughter and I were @ a Mexican restaurant and my mouth was on fire as well.  I couldn't hardly stant the salsa which never seemed hot to me in the past.

Thank you and CONGRATS on finishing your tx!!

Have a Merry Xmas & a Happy New Year!!

I had to call the doctor and she said that it is a reaction from the interferon and to get this powder  mix  in as warm of water as possible and rinse mouth 2 times a day, and to eat foods that are more bland and that are no peppers or spices to them.

Watch that because that is the way mine started and I am down to my last 4 shots and  really didn't think that I would have this problem again.  Wrong!  here it is one more time.  I had some chapstick that they had prescribed for me and then she told me Aveeno works good too.  I use that to bathe in as I get real sensitive skin to begin with.

I was told that being on this interferon and Riba that we can't just take anything so it is best for you to consult your Gastro dr as they know what we can have with medicine.

I know that it has to be rough on you but you hang in there as the Lord is by all our sides and maybe someday there will be a cure.  My WBC was low even up till now and go back in mid Jan after last treatment.

Keep in touch,

I have been on treatment for 24 weeks now and just developed a crack in the corner of my mouth and I keep using chapstick.  I thought it was due to the weather etc. I hope it clears up and doesn't get any worse.

I don't know at this point if I am developing mouth sores but my tongue is very sensitive like I burned it or something...very strange.

I also have been sick for about 5 weeks now and I just can't seem to shake this cold.  A lot of people in my office had the same symptoms and it took them 4 weeks to overcome it.  I am concerned because of my low WBC count.

I've had mouth sores for months now and they are painful.  I only have 13 weeks left of treatment--thank God.  The sores inside my mouth are reminiscing of ulcers (white blisters).  Someone else mentioned magic mouthwash which does ease the pain.  Hang in there and good luck!

Happy Holidays.
Peace.

I have found that even the least spicy foods tend to set my mouth on fire so I have to make my foods more and more bland.  My doctor put me on Pepcid OTC due to a rise in my acids.  As far as I am concerned, I would stop eating all together except that after 12 weeks I have lost 30 lbs.

I finally called the doctor as I didn't know where to find anyone that might have even had this problem and she had advised me to get this Oral B Amosan Oral Mouth Cleanser and then rinse mouth 2 times a day and go to eating bland foods.  I have got this 3 times now and the first two times we just let it run its coarse as there are many things that we are not to use.  I was not aware of this!!!

What was the name of this cream and maybe I can see if she will order me some.

One more note on the toothpaste and mouthwash...if you shop around you can find it alot cheaper than other places.  I found it for 5 bucks whereas other places would have it for 8...even 9 bucks.  And we all know that these maintenance tools start to add up as if the price of the treatments weren't enough as it is.

I found that using Biotene Toothpaste works the best.  I had ulcers, and still do every now and then.  Brush the ulcer/blister directly with your toothbrush.  I found instant relief.  The Biotene Mouthwash is great for that dry mouth in the middle of the night.

Just thought I would put my two cents in.

I do get them in my mouth.  I have been using Biotene mouth wash.  I got it at Walmart.  It seems to REALLY help!  I also called my Dr. who also gave me a cream to put on them at night.

Best Wishes

I get them at the corners of the mouth but not inside.

A lot of people have reported the inner mouth sores and have recommended "magic Mouth Wash."  I think your pharmacist has to make it.
