Cool Zach! What an ordeal huh? You’ve managed to wade through a big swamp full of interferon over the last several years, huh :o)? I’ll be looking forward to good news from you in oh… about six months or so. Actually, probably a little sooner than that, I hope.

All my best to you, guy; I’ll be waiting for the good word—

Bill

Way to go, CDM. Hope you feel well fast.

by can-do-man, Oct 15, 2009 09:10PM
Thanks lalapple, I always tried to follow your tx. Even in tough times you stayed tough. Your a good person.

ALL, thanks for the well wishes, just glad its over. My first tx i was afraid to stop, thinking just a few more weeks. This time i was ready to end it. congrats to all the SVR's and those who are still treating just hang in there.

I really hope the best for everybody.

One more thing, win or lose i have been very lucky having Dr. Paul Kwo who is also the lead investigator for boceprevir. Alot of doctors would have caved to the drug company not wanting the hassel. He let them know several times he was the doctor and even when my HGB got to 8 and my platelets went to 29 we were able to stay on full dose.

Hes willing to listen and tx out of the box, he doesn't feel threatened by a patient with their own ideals..... But if you think he's going to baby you and hold your hand all the time.... Well not going to happen.

BTW, he is also involved in the telaprevir trials and has nothing but good things to say about the drug

At a momentus occcassion you need to lay out the details for everyone, stage, geno, tx detail, the high purpose behind completion, the stuff that got you to 'done',,,

by Bill1954, Oct 15, 2009 10:01PM
I'd like an encore too, Candoobie...

by epiphiny, Oct 15, 2009 10:03PM
Agreeing with FIGuy here, essential reading for those peeps considering treating, half way through etc.  It will be inspirational.

Here, here! A little inspiration is invaluable in the dregs of tx.

Congratulations on finishing your tx and kudos to your Dr. for staying aggressive throughout.
I'm thrilled for you.....Pam

Geno 1b, dx over 4 years ago as stage 4. (Cirrhosis) First tx was 86 weeks, just made the 2 log drop at week 12 and didn't clear until 24 weeks. Relapsed shortly after  tx.

Had a choice this time between telaprevir trial or boceprevir, the only reason i chose boceprevir was they allowed rescue drugs and i was on procrit most of my first tx. The anemia was worse with boceprevir and Imodium (immodium) became my best friend. Besides that no problems, was und within 2 weeks of starting boceprevir. Was able to work thru out tx.

Hoping it worked and i'm able to keep my own liver, Have a great wife, 2 sons and 2 grandsons. Would like to be around for a while driving the wife and boys crazy and spoiling the grandkids.

by smaug48, Oct 15, 2009 11:05PM
UND in 2 weeks after starting boceprevir?  Sounds like you are golden!  Congrats on finishing.

Congrats!!!!  I hope to see an SVR in the future.  If you have maintained thus far it is quite likely.

Also great to see your words about Dr. Paul Kwo.  We have another member here who treated with him in Prove 3 who also got that SVR and spoke very well of him.  He looks like a great doctor *and* human being.

Hoping that the sides rapidly diminish...

Congratulations on finishing;  I'm so pleased you had a doc prepared to tx aggressively.  Hugs & prayers for the coming months, although I gotta say, at 2 week UND, I'm sure there's reason to be optimistic :-)

Well you certainly live up to your billing - it's looking really really good for you with the UND at 2 weeks and boceprevir is just so promising.  Congratulations on getting through yet another round of this vile stuff - here's hoping for that SVR post in six months although I gotta say, it's looking pretty good.  Enjoy being done tx and take good care of yourself over the next while.  Congrats Can-Do and wish you speedy recovery.

Can do did do  whoo hoo

I am so happy for you, my friend.  It has been some trip, hasn't it.  You have trailblazed the way to the PI's.  I am encouraged by your numbers and feel like you got it this time.  I am amazed that you worked throughout and hope you have a big vacation planned in some tropical wonderland.
I like goof's tribute "The Ice(cream) Man Finishith."

Next year when those PI's hit the market, you can push us all to the finish line.

PRAYING for you SVR can do, you HAVE to have it this time. Especially with the boceprevir, and that also giving hope to so many more relapsers.
