foot pain

Hi out there this is bc21 or call me Shane, I have been on 3 treatments for hep C peg intron / pegasus/ and infergen/ all combined w/ ribapac , I am not on meds now but I am experiencing lots of foot pain! especially when i am off feet for any short or long amount of time, and then when i stand up WHAM I walk like i am 99 yrs old my feet hurt so bad !!!    It started about 1 year ago aprox. Does this have to do with my hep C or my treatment? anyone that can answer this would be a big help I am only 44 and i should not be dealing with this at least not at such a young age. I need an answer and hopefully a solution if there is one. Will the pain ever stop,,, SHANE bc21

I would see a neurologist since there are a lot of different things that could be causing what you describe. I would start researching peripheral neuropathy, particularly diabetic neuropathy.

hey meki, i am still positive unfortunatley  went to a foot doc and he wants me to try lyrica I needto check with my hep doc to see if its to invasive on my liver. Any way i am starting to get to know some people  on this forum thats nice. I am also having some difficulty w the dating issue any advice for me. I was always one to be in relationships and when I found out i was positive it made me think what is a girl gonna do when i say oh by the way i have hep C.. I am afraid of dealing with the rejection. I really want a partner and this standing in my way. ill take any advice thanx . Shane

Me personally - lyrica didn't do so good for me Shane --- BUT EACH PERSON REACTS DIFFERENTLY to medications.

About being positive or not... HEPC is NOT contagious sexually.

It is a blood to blood disease.

So it's really up to you how you introduce yourself --- how you meet the person you want to be with... And how you do with that person.

I believe in honesty.

I believe if you have all of the information about your disease - what you've been through --- and how to "contain" your disease - than any woman who wants to be with you - will be able to deal with your disease effectively.

Honesty is your best policy. Those that run screaming away --- you wouldn't want one of those kinds anyway.

What you need to look for is someone that you like -- and that you feel comfortable enough talking to and about.

HCV is NOT a death sentence --- nor should you have to act like a Monk if you have it.


You should use universal precautions --- and you should be honest with whomever you choose to get closer to.

Be armed with education - be patient so that they can learn what you know --- and be trusting in them to make the right choices for themselves first.

There are a lot of HCV positive folks - who have started wonderful relationships.

Be prepared for rejection - because people don't understand what HCV is --- or anything about it --- and it's terrifying for them until they do.

But a TRUE Friend --- will learn about it with you.

Not tryting to get too personal, but is your height and weight proportionate?
Extra weight can affect any joint, but if the dr prescribed Lyrica, he might suspecting periphal neuropathy. (Not a dr or medical expert but I work in long term care)
It's often prescribed for restleg leg syndrome (RLS), fibromyalgia and neuritis.
I had a pain dr prescribe it for my radiating neck pain/neuritis, but it didn't help.
I am still using the samples from time to time for RLS. I had read that it's broken down by the kidney more than the liver, correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

I am blown away with your outlook on the issues I have explained and the way i think is truly that honesty is the best policy! I do agree that HCV is not a deathsentence I am very much enjoying my life as much as possible the only problems at this point are financial I am currently on disability i have taken on some great part time work though, between treatments. To get back to your advice you really have such a wonderful outlook on life I am happy to have read your feedback its very uplifting you sound like a really special individual! One thing I am hearing from my Doctor , oh I am currently seeing carrol leevy UMDNJ sammy davis liver institute And supposably  the best if not one of in the nation. and now he's telling me that not only blood transmition but also bodily fluids which has me very worried. I was married had a fantastic sex life have two great kids and no disease has been spread to any of them thank god. But I still worry. You are right though about meeting a woman I need to put myself out there more and get back in the game so to speak i want companionship its lonely ya know? I am happy to read all you have shared with me It means alot and has made me happy in a hopeful way Thanx Shane

There seems to be some controversy on whether or not HCV can be transmitted through bodily fluids. Some say the risk is < .03 %, I don't know where that number comes from.
The Centers for Disease Control still insist that the chance of contacting HCV through bodily fluids is "rare but still present".
