got 4wk PCR- UND

by aquarius64, Feb 24, 2007 12:00AM
i just found out my 4 wk PCR was UND!!  my GI wouldn't have offered that info, i had to have him do some work and look through my file, lol. i am relieved and i hope that all of you tx and post tx get UND and SVR. i didn't like the feeling that i got the next day from the procrit. i felt short of breath and had some mild chest pains and it made me feel speedy and very dizzy, yet still fatigued. i ended up at the emergency room cuz my GI said to go there and get an EKG cuz they didn't have one in their office and he said that my meds could give me arrythmias. i don't know if he meant the procrit of the inf. all was well. of course the docs in the ER knew nothing of procrit or inf tx. so i got to inform them. but my HGB did go up from 10.1 to 11.3 in one day. i don't think i want to have to have another procrit unless i really really need it. it really made me feel scary weird. at least i guess it was the procrit. i hope you all have a nice weekend and i thank you all for being my biggest support system and the most knowledgable and caring group of friends a person can have!!

Yeah!!! Soooo happy for you!!! It's a good feeling to hear that word UND, for sure! sorry that you are not feeling well tho. Hopefully your hemo will stay up. Can the procrit work in one day? I always read it takes a couple weeks? Maybe your hemo was going back up on its own at the time you did the shot. Just guessing, but I hope you don't need it anymore.

Really happy for ya!!!!!!!!!

that's what i thought. i heard it takes about 2-6wks. maybe it makes it rise on labs, but maybe the energy feeling doesn't happen for a while. i have no clue and the docs at the ER didn't seem to know much. i was having my period (not at lab time)and wondered if that could effect my HGB, i asked my GI but she said it wouldn't make much difference. thanks for the imput

You must be ELATED!!!!! What week of treatment are you on now? I'm on week 7 of 24 and waiting on my 4 week pcr results. Sorry to hear of your trip to the ER, but i do remember hearing that Procrit can make you have irregular heart beat. Hang in there and now you have even more reason to keep pressing on with this treatment. It is going to work.

Congratulations! So glad you are und. Sorry to hear about the reaction to procrit. I can't believe the dr's were so poorly informed, especially re: procrit. It's used so much for chemo tx.
I have a standing order for weekly procrit but I've been spacing my shots depending on how I feel. It does take a while to kick in, I've always heard too.

Congrats!! You have an excellent chance of SVR. I bet you are jumping for joy! Are you going 24 or 48 weeks? I have forgotten.

Cleared @ 4 weeks.... Very nice. I guess you're one of those 'super-responders'.  Keep it up.

To: everyone
thank you all! i am doing 24 wks. tho my GI said he'd cut it to 12/16 if i had a hard time with my labs, but he'd rather not cut it short. i'd rather not either. if i'm doing this, i'm doing it right.  besides, i've heard of some people's VL changing. thanks again guys!

Yes, I think you should get it right before shot #13, when you are in that trough period. The inf will not be in your system as much at that point. Hope you are doing well! We'll have to talk soon!

Hello fellow Aquarian - I'm so happy that you're UND.  I too was UND at week 4 and know how gratifying that feels.  (We're both genotype 2, I believe, which I thank God for daily - if one is going to get hep, genotype 2 is the one to get.)  I'm finding, BTW, that I cannot tell which sides are from the Inf. and which from the Procrit.  Right now, after 3 weeks on Procrit, I feel slightly better, but that may be just that I'm getting used to having anemia.  Took blood tests last Weds. and my hemoglobin has dropped .5 since I began Procrit - at least it's not the point (or more) per week I was dropping before.  I think anemia has been the worst side I've encountered so far, along with the nasty ways food can taste.
