I did the Liver Walk in Chicago last Saturday.  It was on the lakefront.  Perfect weather, low to mid 60's and sunny.  We had a blast!!  People bring their dogs. They have good food..... we had Corner Bakery :-) and fun entertainment. The last time I did it I was on treatment so this was a real treat!!  We're already planning on getting together a larger group next year.  I recommend you do it if you can!!!

Cowbells are pretty cool!  In Germany I had a friend who collected them!   I think any kind of positive effort  to help liver disease, be it HCV, or Wilsons, Is such a good thing!

Not sure a lot could afford to go to the east coast,  maybe though we could have two!  One EC one WC,  have someone do video, it would be so cool!  We could begin our own liver aid!  Jasper could make a song!    I know they have a couple organized for both of them. We could be the med help group!

I think getting names signed up,  and $$$ commited.

Fun stuff!

This awakens the party planner in me!  Wouldn't it be fun to pick a central location and see who could join us??

New York sounds fun..............

We had one of those here back in July. I went, but since it was on a Saturday, I was in a fog and didn't walk, but some of my girls did. It was great fun. Got a T-shirt and a cowbell. You always need more cowbell.

Yes, it WAS neat that there is a Liver Walk!  I also met a gal that was walking with a group that called themselves the PBC's.  I asked her about that name, and learned that their walkers had a disease called Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, where the bile ducts get blocked up.  I had NEVER heard of that before, so I learned something new too, and gave her some information about Hepatitis C.

Many walkers actually had liver problems, but some had pictures of loved ones that said "I am walking for my sister.." etc. They ended up reaching their goal for donations, but I think it could have been better advertised in the media.  There was nothing on t.v. or radio that I ever saw or heard, and just happened across it through the Liver Foundation's website.  Still, at least it's a Liver walk!  They gave out those rubber bracelets that are so popular now too.  Theirs was baby blue, and said "Love your Liver" on them.  lol

Yeah? Wow, I think it is just a cool thing,  Even if you can't walk, look at the breast cancer walks and awareness stuff.  There are  a lot ways to give.   it is our disease, we now have a walk!  Maybe a ribbon too!

Hey Deb!  I stumbled across that Liver Life Walk just in time to register before the August walk in Kansas City!!  They say you need to raise at least 100.00 just to get a tee shirt, but I made it to $205.00 and they had a lot of cool pharmaceutical stuff to give away too.  I took Toby with me, but it was at a park on the "plahhza" and everyone else had purebreds with 3 names. (So I told 'em he was Toby P. Elmo, "shelter dog", lol)

One thing that was messed up though, is the Liver site said the walk was going to be 3 miles long, and that they were allowing 1 hour for the walk!  I think that must put off a few people that would've gone, but come to find out, the walk was only 3-tenths of a mile!!

Also  if anyone should choose to donate, and you are not doing it in your name or a for a special person, Please remember Nick,  and Elaine.    Remember it is tax deducatble.

Even $5.00 is a bonus to research

Thanks
