There aren’t necessarily any dietary restrictions for hepatitis patients that I’m aware of. If he’s cirrhotic, his doctor may have given him specific recommendations; if not, he can eat pretty much anything. Proper diet is good for anyone; a good model to follow could be from the American Heart Association, as well as the American Diabetes Association. Emphasis on high fiber, low sugar, and lots of fruits and veggies is always a good idea. Additionally, maintaining ideal body weight and BMI is great too.
Good luck—
Bill
I wasnt told about a special diet either....Did you have biopsy of lver?? Did he ever treat with Interferon. DO you know what damage if any has occured?
Very important to know this verses what diet to be on.
Find a good hepatologist and take it from there.
Wish you all the luck.
I wasnt told to have a special diet...but a good healthy diet is good for everyone!
