my tongue is hurting really bad.....i have the majic mouthwash and it aint doing much good.......its swollen too....all i can eat is ice cream....im sooo hungry please help

i have it to along with the cold sores on the crack of my lips, i have a call into my doctor.  the magic mouth wash didnt work for me either. try eating oatmeal, yogurt, etc.
i'll let you know what my doctor says.

Kimmy - when I went through that phase --- I was prescribed this special mouthwash and it worked WONDERS for me.

The ingredients are:

NYSTAT/ERYTH/DIPHEN SUS

SWISH AND SPIT 1 TEASPOONFULL BY MOUTH FOUR TIMES DAILY.

It took care of any problems I had - and was a LIFE saver!

i am not sure it started on Saturday for me, my doctor finally called back, i have an appt. tomorrow at 10, i will let you what they tell me. if you hang in there.  if you are really in alot of pain, maybe you should call your doctor...i'm not sure it could just ulcerated or thrush, i have no idea, i also have cold sore around my lips, and the magic mouth wash burns when i use it...hoped i have helped.

How weird....my throat has been like raw for a little over a week and today it's hurting pretty bad when I swallow. I was thinking of just trying to ride it out as I don't see the white splotches like when you have strep throat, but still haven't gotten too close to anyone just in case. I have been spaying cloraseptic and it seems to help but might have to check into a Dr. office soon....

Is this a side effect as well?

I had the "fire tongue" during my first round of treatment.  My GI prescribed a swish and swallow thing called Carafate.   Carafate I guess is normally used for tummy problems but it cleared my fire tongue up within 24 hours.  

I also have the cracking in the corners of my mouth (had it the last time I treated too).   For that I use miconazole cream 2 to 3 times a day.  Even when it appears to be healed.  If I don't keep using it, it comes right back.  

Make sure your doc looks at the tongue issue as thrush is a pretty common problem when on tx.

I tried every single remedy that God and science had to offer and unfortunately none worked.  It's a reaction to the interferon.

The one good thing I can tell you is........a week after I stopped the interferon it was long gone.  I had one tough bump that kept trying to come back for about a month but once I had really detoxed the IFN - that was it.

(Unfortunately after not eating for 73 weeks once that tongue was better EVERYTHING tasted like magic manna from above! Oh boy my first Oreo cookie was an experience that I cried through!  And that IS something to look forward to!)

The only other good thing is thank God the ice cream companies make so many flavors of ice cream! If this was 40 years ago it would be vanilla chocolate and strawberry but now thanks to people like Ben and Jerry's and Hagen and Daas.........it's livable!

went to the docs....swelling and pain was do to my immune attacking my tongue ring so he took it out and an hour later swelling and pain free.....yahhhh...and something crazy is happening to my tattoo the ink is swelling and he gave me cream for that

Posted this for rita- copied for you- in case the tongue ring was not the entire problem...

I have had an awful time with mouth sores! (also little blisters in my nose, ears, and now on my hands...)  For the mouth sores I mix equal parts children's liquid Benedryl and Mylanta (you can squeeze in some OraGel also, if you'd like) and SWISH.  I won't lie- it tastes as bad as it sounds- but it DOES work.  It coats the mouth, eases the ulcers, and for whatever reason helps the healing.  I have also mixed it, and then soaked a Q-tip in the mix to hold on specific sores.  

Sounds like you have it figured out- but just in case- this has saved my sanity!
