peas are up and garlic is a foot tall

peas are up and garlic is a foot tall

well, the yard is filling with pansies and tulips and apple blossoms wave in the breezes and waft through the air.

the peas are 6" tall and the cabbage family is well on it's way....squashes and tomatoes, and garlic, all afoor tall and it's still april...

The best cure for hcv.....IMHO.....gardening...now if only my silly wabbit spinal cord would go along more, I'd farm the whole hill!!

aanybody else find therapy in little green critters???

I like eating them. I am getting hungry reading your post! As far as pansies waving in the breeze, well I've never tried them.

Happy gardening. Let me know if you need help disposing ov the veggies :-)

Garlic is easy!!  I buy whole ones at the grocery and split them then plant, pointy side up.  Any small space that is not clay in your flower bed, plant in November.

Rock...........My chickens are finally laying eggs after the super cold winter.  My eggs are brown and some are a pretty blue green

Have you been feeding your chicks blue green algae?   :)

no but they eat algae from my koi pond LOL. They are a certain breed of chicken called the Easter Egger chicken or the Aracona.

Are the yolks on these light green eggs a rich dark yellow?  When I lived in northern Alberta, Canada I worked in a health food store (do they still call them that?) that was supplied with free range eggs and they were light green shells and rich yellow yolks.  Yummy eating.

my husband is fond of tell the story of the day I gave CPR and mouth to mouth to my favorite rooster....rolleyes....don't ask...giggle...

OMG, I loved my chickens...takes me back...the only prob was I loved em too much...wheneevr my goats or chickens had babies I couldnt even sell them (because I knew folks might eat them... they were my babies....when it got to 100 birds I finally stopped naming them all....but when a dog bit Elmo's throat...OMG....

I know some folks think birds are just birdbrains, but I had some that had very unique personalities and behovioral quirks....they were real individuals.....maybe like people....some are smart, some aren't.

the eggs were great though,,,it's hard to get good eggs anymore...each one had twice the flavor and color of store bought...

Garlic.....I'm growing more elephant garlic these days...it's easier to grow, and easier to chop, being bigger....milder flavor so you need more, but simpler when cooking because you don't have to fine mince it...great in sauces.

Oh lucky you! I suck at veggie gardens! I would LOVE to grow garlic, I eat a ridiculous amount!

My sister loved birds, always had them. And I'm with you on I can't ever get rid of any critter unless it's going to a good home for a PET! Killed me when my dad had a couple cows I raised butchered. I wouldn't eat ANY of it! We fought over that, and only thing we fought over!
They gave up and I ate the broccoli, lol.

Is it organic growing? I just bought a house and will be trying a garden next spring (to late in Fl, may try a few things) but you can give me tips next yr.

I love a garden thread!  Especially this year.  Last spring I was very sick on TX and as the months go by I'm reminded that this time last year I was a wreck.  No excuses after Sept. 1, 2009 when I had my 12 week post-TX visit.

I live in the deep south and have peaches the size of golf balls; figs, too. Eating the first of the strawberries, grapes are blooming.  Have harvested the last of the lettuce and yellow squash seeds have just sprouted.  GSDgirl, I'd love to have araucanas (sp?) but too many dogs in my town neighborhood.  Still, it's going to be a whale of a different season from last year!  Can't wait!

Yay...a garden thread!!

I am jealous of the garlic.  Roasted is my weakness.  Will have to add that to the mix next year.

Tomatoes are coming along nicely, towering over my eggplant.  But something ate all the blooms off my lemon tree...now I worry it won't bloom.  I'm betting it's a big huge grasshopper...arg!

well we just ate our first big plates of steamed edible pod peas...yum yum yum....
at little fresh thyme and chopped oregono, a smidge of butter...and OMG.

Merrybe's cure for HCV...

1. plant at least 20 flowers a week...

2...cut bunches of them and fill up all your vases so it feels like some young goofy guy is courting you!!

3..Talk to your veggies every day...Mike Myers style....GET in my tummy!!!!

Careful on your reference to " young goofy guy is courting you!! ".  Our forum friend could be all over you in the skae of a brusseel sprout.  But to tell you a secret, our Goofy much prefers eggplant.  If it's jewel-encrusted, all the better.

Gardening is definitely the best therapy for getting through the program! I'm up every morning to visit my garden in the back to see how everybody is doing. Once in a while I go out the front yard but I scare the kids because I'm still in my housecoat. What a sight!!! We've been eat arugula, mesclun mix greens and the likes for a month now. Yum!! Live in the Canadian west mountains so spring is a little late every year. Started my program the day the Whistler Olympics began. Still had a great time as it has been my home for the last 35 years. Amazing to see the changes in this wonderland of snow snow snow every winter!! Really looking forward to getting healthy and getting my strength back to go ski, ski ,ski!!!! Enjoy your garden to the fullest and have fun!!
Keep positive!!!!

No point in scaring him....   : )

of course watching him run with it is always fun to watch but I think he prefers the boney babes...

If GD needs ward us buxoms off I can always ship him some of my garlic....it's up to my double CHIN now!!!   : )))))

I envy your garden. I'd enjoy gardening if I had the energy plus it gets so super hot & humid here down South it makes it really hard to work outside in the summer. The weeds can take over too and it's a constant battle.
Blank

yes, it's hot here too now....

so hot I swore I was done planting for the year 2 days ago.

then today I went and bought 60 new plants to plunk in....

somebody shoot me and put me out of my misery!!!!
