relapse

relapse

Yes, it's official. We got the results of the last blood test and my hubby's had a relapse. He had been holding strong for the first few months, enzyme levels were low, and we were cautiously optimistic.
We're recovering from the news and trying to assess where to go from here.
He's still feeling good physically, but is willing to regroup and treat again when the timing is right.
Thanks for all the support and information we've received from this site.

I was so hoping for SVR for your husband after his UND 4 weeks post. I am so sorry to hear of his relapse. As you might remember, his stats were close to mine, so I was holding my fingers extra crossed for him. It is good to hear though that he can think of retreating again sometime in the future.
All the best to you both. Zazza

Bummer. Tell your husband he's not alone. It happens to the best of us. Next time will be our turn for SVR!!

I have gone through that experience, so I know how he and you must feel.  Keep the faith though, the new drugs will do it for him.

I failed 7 times, but now have a great chance of SVR treating with telaprevir.

You are in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry to hear the bad news. Must have been a terrible disappointment..They usually like to you wait at least 6 mos. before starting again. You will have the new meds and the length of your tx might be cut in half.

You both worked hard to rid him of this disease, I'm sorry to hear that the news wasn't what we all wanted to hear. I know you have strong faith and I will be praying that you two have the strength you need to move forward. There's nothing I can say to make it better, but you know we share the pain you're going thru. Wish I could lighten you load a little.
I too hate this disease...
Hugs,
Bug

So sorry about the relapse. Given the ongoing advances in treatment, I'm sure things will work out better in the future.

Thanks so much for everyone's well wishes and for your concern. It means more to me than I can express.
FlMouse, Teufelhunden, My Own, indyjo, : I'm too, so sorry for your relapses. It's a terrible blow to go through 48 weeks of pure h*ll and then to receive the news that it didn't work. I keep reading about the newer drugs, though, and I feel that when the time is right we'll all collectively kick this thing!
Zazza, Wyntre: Thanks for your concern, and hang in there. I know it's tough, but you're in it for the long haul and I'm sure we'll be hearing great things about you soon.
Andiamo: You're truly a warrior! Treating 8 times....I can't wait to hear when you announce your SVR after this last treatment with telaprevir! Who knows, maybe we'll be right behind you!
l-horn, Grandma, Cindy, Mikesimon, Charm, jim : Thanks so much for your comments and for your support. You add so much to this forum and are always there ready and willing to help others!
Elaine: You're truly a precious soul who adds so much support here. You and Nick are always in my thoughts and prayers. I know we're going to get through this, but it means so much to have people in your life who really understand what we're going through! If you lived in Texas, I'd be knocking on your door!
Ladybug: Thanks for your kind words and encouragement. It really means a lot.

No matter what the outcome, I'll always feel blessed for meeting such a great group of people on this forum!

Thanks you two. No, we're not going to quit. We just need time and doctor's advice to see where to go from here. We've got too much to live for, and too much life ahead of us to just stop here!

So sorry to hear. I'm a few days behind on the reading.  I followed you since you were the "wife" of a treating H like me.  Mine also relapsed so now we all move to the "next thing" I guess.  Keep us all posted.  My H's doc had him drive immediately to his office and restart while we wait for a referral to the Big U in our state.  So now we're on week 8 of whatever is going to happen.  Big U appointment in in t-minus 3.5 weeks.
