I'm with the state and I have excellent care. I was approved in 3 days for meds and paid nothing for treatment. It doesn't matter if you are with the state and doesn't mean you will be a low priority. If you need Tx then you will be treated by the state. I talk from experience...
Take it easy ok

If you are 1a then it is the most common Genotype, it however has been harder to attain SVR. With that said, the new drugs are more targeted and Tx time is probably 24 wks like myself. I was on Sovaldi/Ribavirin for 24 wks. To be completely honest it was very tolerable with very few mild SFX (side effects) which is really great. I first treated with triple therapy w/Interferon so these treatments are soooo much easier.
Do yo know what stage your liver is and your VL (viral load) is? Mine liver was stage 3-4, and VL was 11.5 million.
To let you know how great these drugs are..in 21 days my VL went down to 17! 2 points away from UND...incredible!
I hope this will ease your mind a bit. Keep coming back to the community as there are fantastic people here which are newly diagnosed and wtg to start Tx, also people on Tx now and the people who have finished Tx (post treaters). They have much experience and really informative. So ask all the questions you have and the community will do what they can to help. Read up on the treatments and the virus so you are better informed.
Lastly......relax my friend this is just a bump in the road and we will be here with you to walk with you thru your journey. We were once where you are now and there is a cure and new virus free life ahead
Peace to you
Deb
Hi FrankiB......first off don't be afraid. It sounds much worse than it is Trust me. I am a 1a and just finished Tx (treatment). SVR refers to Sustained Virilogical Response. This is a simple blood test 12 wks after you have finished your Tx. At this point you will know for sure if the Tx worked or you have relapsed (not cured).
