strange sugestion/Pot

ok I go to DR today and tell him about my pains, aches and still cant sleep with 20mg of Ambien. I have lost 19 pounds and will starting 4th week tomorrow. I am not hungrey. I have to make myself eat when I take my meds if I dont I get real sick. Anyway we go over meds for pain and meds for sides for a while and just as I am starting to think YAAA I dont have to suffer anymore then he says
"Autumn you can take these meds and they will help with pain but they are going to effect your liver" .******Joy is over.  I really dont want to hurt my liver anymore than it is now HepC has been doing a bang up job. I tell him I will think about it and let him know. Anyway he leaves the room and nurse asked " Have you concidered smoking pot?" Uhhh No. She tells me alot of patients on tx do smoke and it seems to help with the sides and keeping weight on. I did my share when I was younger and stopped because ....... well I dont know I just did. I just cant picture myself layed up in the bed folling a big fat hooter. Well after typing it it dosent sound that bad.
Anyone tried thid if so does it help?

My specialist says that smoking pot is bad for hep c person. But maybe he was referring to non-treatment people. Now, I saw somewhere that Medical Marihuana was reccomended for depression on treatment. I'm no expert, be careful about everything I say.

I did do work on our local medical marijuana program's database. It seems like everyone that came into the program was wearing paesley and beads. Must be a sympton of pain. . . .

Also, I heard you could take the 4 plants you were allowed to grow under the program and bend the stalks over sideways so they would grow like vines and you could grow up to a pound a plant. . . . . .

i used pot during trx-DAILY!.....it did indeed help reduce many sides and  changed my attention to bettr purpose..i could actually laugh at  my situation  and that proved priceless...i managed to complete 48 weeks of combo at full strength and can now truly believe that i am cured, well at least SVR at 1 year post....i found that big fat doobies were not necessary..i just took a puff or two whenever it seemed appropriate...worked well for me& i do not wear paisely or beads-but,i would if it helped!..GOODLUCK

My doc said it helps with side effects. He said do it but only as much as needed. Its been known to help nausea and increase apetite. I used it during tx.

There are studies out there claiming it helps us and others that claim it doesn't.
My PC gladly wrote me a script for it. Sometimes, its good to live in California.

Pot (medical marijuana) was my doctor's first suggestion when I presented signficant weight loss and nausea early-on in treatment. He's a hepatologist (liver specialist) at a leading teaching hospital. Unfortunately, pot doesn't agree with me, so I declined. I think smoking pot on treatment, to help with sides, not to mention to help compliance, is quite different from chronic pot smoking off treatment which seems to be bad according to some studies.

I would try anything that helped with tx personally. My dad is 81, has been very sick the last couple of months and was just prescribed medical marijuana pills to stimulate his appetite. It works! He seems much happier lately too.......:)

In first tx I used it.  Because of the way my brain works, for tx 2 I changed everything including med doses, length of tx, diet to some extent, physical activity, sleep attempts and lots of little things.  Eliminated the pot in tx 2.  A little tough to compare the two tx's since they were so different but I think the pot did help somewhat in tx 1, but only to a small degree. These meds and their sides are strong enough to counteract just about anything.   I was aware of the points that both scratch and Beamer make above and both aspects entered into my thinking.
