Osteoporosis & Neupogen

Dr. Dietrich,

My question is concerning Neupogen and osteoporosis.

Genetically I am very small boned,  my mother suffered from Osteoporosis, loosing 7 vertebrae. Pre tx,  I did all the things I was suppose to do, to keep it bay.

I am currently on 9ml of daily infergen, 1.000 Ribavarin.  Procrit 60 split over a 20 and 40, Neupogen every six days. Though till last week, it was x2. a week.

My question is: Will Neupogen cause additional thinning to my bones? I have been unable to find any information concerning this.

I also have a question concerning hormone replacement, and Hep C. but will ask that at a later date.

I am genotype 1a,  this is my 3rd. time txing, first time using neupogen.

Thank you in advance for assistance or direction you can point me to:

I have never seen any literature stating that neupogen can add to osteoporosis. In addtion there does not seem to be any reason that it would cause osteoporosis. You should have the bone density scan as always, but would not fear the neupogen.
