Autoimmune Hepatitis -Diagnosis?

Posted by ELENA on May 11, 1999 at 11:48:46
I hope that you can help me as im really worried and frustrated. Recently I have started experiencing extreme fatigue, upper right quadrant pain. My doctor took blood tests which showed only slightly elevated liver enzymes, antibodies to smooth muscle (1:160) and ANA positive (1:320) speckled pattern. I had a biopsey taken which showed mild inflammation. My doctor, who supposed to be experienced treating liver disorders, didnt really give me a dx. But kind of mentioned it could be Autoimmune Hepatitis stage one, but a mild form. He told me to come back in 6 months for more tests. Isnt it better to treat it now before it gets worse. And what do I do about my symptoms. Do you think that AIH is the correct diagnoses. Lastly, can the AIH get worse.
I would really appreciate your help
Thanks
Elena
