Bocep Questions

Hello everyone! Finally I found how to post here! My bf was diagnosed with hepc Stage4 1a grade 2 in May and recently went to a university trial doctor aside from his regular gastro. The univ trial doc told him that since his grade was a 2, to lose weight and return in Feb. 2009 when bocep will hopefully be available. Reason being that riba and inter will only give him a 20% chance of svr and the breakthrough drugs will give him an 80% chance (I know that riba and inter will given on top of bocep.) Also, he is only hep naiive once so the doc wants him to have the best chances. I have no problem with waiting except that no one can give me an answer when bocep will be available. I've heard every number from December of this year to 2012 and I dont know what to do. I can have my bf runway ready by the time he goes back for his follow up in Feb, but it would be 9 months (nearly a year!) we found out about his condition and no guarantees for tx still. When we come back in Feb will bocep be approved, that is what no one can answer. Obv I dont want this running on and want my bf to get the best tx possible. Can anyone shed light on options, bocep and its approval. I've already looked on clinical trials . gov and the one suitable trial does not have contact or location information posted, and the others are invitation only or are already in progress. We dont mind waiting for our follow up in feb 2009 but then what?????? Thanks!

Bocepravir will not be approved in 2009, more likely 2010, or 2011 earliest. However a new clinical trial using it may be starting then. That is what the doctor is probably saying. Regardless it is a good thing to lose weight and get him in shape for treatment. Waiting a few more months wil not make a difference after all these years.  He is lucky to have you! DTD
