Positive HCV, Negatirve PCR

About a month and half ago I tested postive for Hepatits C. Recently
my GI doctor did a PCR and it was negative.  Does this mean that I
dont have hepatitis C?  My liver function tests were somewhat
high (ALT 135).  He has done a ultrasound but he is slow in
getting back to me.  Should I be concerned or should I get in
touch with him ASAP.  I am so frustrated because for almost two
months I have been living with the fact that I have hepatitis C
needlessly.  I have some of the classic symptoms namely fatigue,
upset stomach and pain in my lower side.  During the ultrasound
I heard the technician mention "fatty liver".  Could this cause a
positive hepatitis C.  Confused and scared.
