energy drinks safe?

energy drinks safe?

my boyfriend was recently diagnosed with hep c. he is not on any treatment, but he is taking milk thistle. he is concerned about his intake of energy drinks. he drinks them pretty regularly, a couple times a week. they mostly contain caffeine, b vitamins, guarana, taurine and ginseng. are these beverages safe for him to be drinking??

I could not have said it better. There is no reason to limit those drugs other than the obvious sugar and caffeine issue. As long as he is not mixing them with vodka as so many people do, then he is good to go!

Hi Molly,

I would say a couple a week isn't bad. With hep c you do want to keep your cafiene amount down. I would check on the indredient label and see how much sodium, protien, and sugar are in it. These are all nutrients you do not want to over do with hep c. With hep c you want to be on a low protien diet as protien works the liver harder to process.  Sugar is another one your liver doesn't process well. Sugar tends to set in you liver to long. Caffiene is ok in moderation. I found in a medical article that 600mg is ok per day.

Sorry for not having better medical terminology but I think you'll get the gest of it. Good Luck
