hepatitis C & TB of the Body

My brother has Hepatitis C, He has tried the shots, but they did not work to get rid of it. Since Oct 2007 to now 07/08 he has lost appox 75 lbs.  His liver is full of HCV and Cirrosis (cirrhosis).  The Dr. told him that he also  has TB of the Body (not the lungs)  and he is now taking many pills for this.  But, all the test came back negative for TB. Why did they do this?
He is starting to have better days,  Also, it took the Drs. a long time to find out his problem, the Lymph Glands are all swollen, (at 1st they thought that  he  had Lymph Cancer)  His liver and Spleen are so swollen, that they are double in size.
Question:  Why did the Lymph Gland swell up so much, and it took them almost 5 months to rule out cancer.

Question:  Why all the swelling?

Help me to understand what is going on here, so I can support him?

It is not entirely clear to me what your brother's doctors are telling you. It could be Mycobacterium Avium which would cause lymph glad swelling. You need to get more specifics from them about exactly what is going on or you need to get your brother to find out exactly what is happening. Maybe next time go to the doctor with him and take notes on exactly what is wrong with him. Wish him luck!
