test results

  My husband has hep-c. I was tested last week I called the nurse to get the results and she said it came back nonreactive.(I take it that means neg.)
  but she also said It said I could be a carrier and may have had hep-c in the past. Could someone please tell me what this means?

I appreciate your question and I can certainly understand your confusion because I am confused.  Let me make a few comments.  
First and foremost, if your hepatitis C antibody test is negative, you almost certainly do not have hepatitis C and you are not a carrier.  There are unusual circumstances in which someone can have hepatitis C and not have a positive antibody test (dialysis or transplant patients) but we hardly ever see this.  Moreover, we really do not use the term
