Is this a hernia and how severe is this?

I'm a 16 year pld female. I gained 20lbs over the summer and did the 17 Day Diet and lost 14lbs. A month later I gained it all back. I then lost 8lbs and started to notice that the upper part of my stomach and the sides were poking out unusually and my stomach was hirting more. It's obcious that something is out of place. I also feel a lump. I haven't had a period since April 2011-not pregnant. Ovarian cancer runs in the family. This is ruining my life. I see the doctor in Feb but im anxious. PLEASE HELP! My doctor doesn't care about it. My stomach doesn't look normal. Is this a hernia or abdominal stomach protrusion? My stomach is so swollen and the lump is discomforting.

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Hernia is the protrusion of abdominal contents through an abnormal opening. It usually changes shape with posture and increases in size on coughing.  It does not appear to be a hernia. The swelling could be due to other causes like fluid or fat or tumor. Repeat your pregnancy test. Please contact your concerned physician at the earliest. He may do an X ray, an ultrasonography and some blood tests to determine the cause for the swelling.
