I was of the assumption that already have HSV-1. I french kissed a random girl at a club last Saturday and by tuesday I was having a blister on my upper lip. Does this mean that I picked up oral herpes infection from her? Please let me know your thoughts...Thanks

I do need to inform that i do get cold sores from time to time. It is my assumption that all cold sores or fever blisters on the lips are due to HSV-1. So, if i was already getting cold sores - last I remember, I got around 2 years back, can I still be re-infected.

No, this isn't being reinfected - it's a recurrence of your prior oral herpes infections.

I would like to know whether all occurences of fever blisters and cold sores on the lips could be attributed to herpes or other things might also cuase the same effect.

Like whenever the celebrities are pictured with cold sores on their lips, they always attribute them to herpes in tabloids so it is difficult to imagine if anything other than herpes could cause cold sores on the lips... Thanks for all ur replies...take care ...

Cold sores and fever blisters are due to herpes. You can have other rashes on the same areas but typically it's fairly easy to spot a cold sore.
