Herpes and New Job Medical Examination

Hi Everyone
I need some help....very badly. I have this new job that I have been dying to have, and now that I'm so close to being accepted, I understand I have to take a medical exmaniation -- meaning blood test. I have H and I am so terrified that it'll be detected and I won't get the job. I haven't had an outbreak since my first outbreak like 10 months ago... Do you think a standard blood test will be able to detect it??? God I hate this thing!!

Someone help please...

Unless you are applying for a XXX job there's no reason to test for herpes and it's very unlikely that they will. Even if they do, it's not an issue.

It's your right to ask exactly what you are getting tested for too so don't hesitate to ask what and why you are getting tested for.

Believe it or not and I have learned this from my job which is a Fortune 10 Company but when you sign over your consent to a medical evaluation, they can test for ANYTHING they want to test for and you sign your rights away. They will not discuss exactly what they are testing for but if you don't get the job, it could be because they found something on your med eval they didn't like. It's kind of screwy but you literally sign your rights away when you sign consent for a medical evaluation. My job took 8 blood vials which literally left me almost ready to faint and when I asked what they test for, they said it is confidential. Sad but true :(

So you have H and they still hired you?

Usually when you have to take a Medical you all but have the job, however I cannot think of any reason why a Company would test for Herpes or not hire a person because they have it whether it's HSV1 or 2 considering that over 80% of the population have HSV1 to discriminate between the two would be just ridiculous .But I do know that if you are not hired they are not obligated to say why.

I don't have it but I am also not sure they tested for it. They took 8 vials of blood from me to test for all sorts of things. They took 3 urine specimens. I do know they are not obligated to tell a person why they didn't get the job and they are allowed to test for anything they want to test for. I am ONLY guessing here but I imagine if someone has something like HIV, they may not want to hire you. Is it legal, no but when everything is this private, it is anyones guess why you didn't get the job. I am sure Herpes isn't going to be something that will disqualify you so relax.
