1st outbreak??

I recently had a spot on my pubic area, which I thought was a cut from shaving or ingrown hair.  I went to doc & got blood test for STDs and the swab test.  All came back negative including the herpes antibody tests. Then I started to get more sores/spots mostly on my inner leg where your leg meets your groin. I went back to the doc & was given Valtrex(10day supply) as she believed that was what was causing this as a recent first time exposure ! I have been taking the drug for a week now and I honestly dont see much improvement besides probably the normal course of the sores forming blisters and now some of the scabs are shedding. I know this is gross and I honestly dont get it bc I'm the most careful person too!!
So now im noticing Im getting a bunch of random spots (which kind of look like mosquito bites on other parts of my legs (calves, mid thigh etc), could these be herpes as well??  Is there anything recommended for the discomfort/pain as the sores on leg just rub on underwear and clothing and/or something to prevent infection as some are open sores!?! Also..are there other drugs/remedies if the Valtrex doesnt work? Any advice would be appreciated!! Freaking out since this is all new!! It is not even confirmed that this is herpes, but from reading up on stuff, etc Im pretty sure it is and dont know how im going to deal with it!
