A single red spot on my bottom lip

Lately I've had an irritated throat, which is actually getting better, I've had swollen glands.  My tongue gets dry and has a feint slightly yellowish coat, that goes away when I drink water.  Just this morning I noticed a tiny red spot on the bottom on my lip.  It's just a small circular red spot 2-3mm in diameter, not surrounded by anything white or nothing that looks like a cold sore.  It's not a cut either cause I don't see any cuts in the skin.

* Are herpes sores generally painful?  I don't feel anything at all from it.

this could be any number of things. it doesn't really sound like a cold sore but if it starts to look like one and you've never had one before, be seen for a lesion culture and typing fo rbetter answers.
