About Testing

This is just a couple of general questions about testing for Herpes.

First, if there are symptoms of Herpes through the two weeks after contact, even though that would be early to test, would having symptoms give you a true positive result at that point or could you still get a false negative?

Also, are there percentages for testing 2 more weeks after this, meaning, if tested for Herpes 4 weeks after contact would it be say 50% accurate, or much higher say six weeks after contact?

Thanks,
Craig

If you have active symptoms, the best thing to do is to get a lesion culture and typing done on them.

About 1/2 of folks test + on the blood tests within 2-3 weeks of being infected.

No, having symptoms soon after infection, doesn't mean you are more likely to get a + igg blood test result quicker.
