I recently had a Herpes non-type specific IgG test done, approximately 6 months after my last exposure. The test results have come back completely negative, no reactivity. My doctor assures me that the test results are definitive and that I haven't been exposed to either HSV-1 or HSV-2. I have read that type specific tests are the way to go but what is the accuracy of a complete negative in a non-type specific test?
I am sorry for the delay in responding. Typically we get to posters within 24hrs but due to the crazy week for myself I haven't been around much.
A non-type specific test is usually false positive before it is false negative. In your case I would take your results as conclusive. In the future only request a type specific testing.
