Accuracy of Test Results

Hi.

I was tested for HSV1 and HSV2 a week ago.  The test was an ELISA igg test.  I have read that there are a number of false positives associate with the test, and I'm wondering if I need to get another test for confirmation.

My results were:  HSV1 = .06  HSV2 = 5.47

I would appreciate any advice you can offer.

your hsv2 igg is over 5 and isn't likely to be a false positive.  if you need the peace of mind, by all means seek out a herpes WB blood test but odds are that you really do have hsv2.

do you have a regular partner?

both your hsv2 igg's are still positives though so likely it is a positive.

your provider can get the wb kit sent to them and have it drawn and sent for you.  you also can get a biokit done in NY too in many clinics from what others have posted.

So, now I'm very confused.  I had the IGG test done again, and came back with a 3.76 - markedly lower than the 5.

I think it would be good to confirm with a WB test, but was told that I can't get a release from the NYS Department of Health.

Would you be so kind as to comment on the difference in test results and how to best get access to the WB test?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Grace, thanks for the comment.

I was afraid that was the case, but I may do the back-up just for final verification.

Yes, I have a partner and I have informed him of the results.
