Hi everyone,
I recently took a herpes test as part of a routine STD screening. I was given the IgM test, and the HSV-1 and HSV-2 IgG tests.
My IgM results were 1.14, a positive result. My HSV-1 and HSV-2 IgG tests were both negative, <0.91. When I took the test, it had been five weeks and two days since I'd last had sex and would have been at risk of transmission.
I know the IgM results are relatively worthless and throw out false positives all the time. I'll be taking the Western Blot, the gold standard of tests, here in mid-July, once I've hit three months after my last possible date of transmission.
I've been relatively calm about the situation, but tonight, I discovered that I seemed to have developed an anal fissure. I've gotten them before, especially when my digestive system hasn't been too great, and it hasn't been lately. So it could be unrelated, and I'm just being hypersensitive to anything new with my body lately.
Does anyone know if anal fissures can be a symptom of herpes? I can't seem to find any reputable resources that point to that. What I have is a very clear linear crack in the skin, not the typical lesion that I've seen pictures of.
I should note, I haven't had any other possible symptoms, so if this could be a symptom, it'd be the first.
Anything you could add would be greatly appreciated. I haven't had anyone else to talk to about this, and I'm trying my best to stay calm about everything.
Thanks!
