Almonds and HSV-2

I tested positive for HSV-2 back in November. Doc put me on 500mg Valacyclovir once daily for suppression. Last week I had an OB and can't figure out why. I read somewhere that almonds can somehow trigger an outbreak. I was eating a handful of almonds everyday for the health benefits. Could this have caused the OB? I read somewhere else that taking Lysine can counter the arginine in almonds. Is it safe to take Lysine along with my Valacyclovir? Would it help anything? Or should I give up almonds? Thanks for any helpful advice.

Daylight second means a huge gap between stress and whatever else contributes to outbreaks. Try to reach that place where you do not care whether you have an outbreak or not and live your life as though you don't have HSV. You will forget you do and ironically you'll have long stretches between outbreaks and that will remind you that you have HSV and check yourself as to what may have contributed to an outbreak,

Thank you for your response. I don't really feel like there is much stress in my life but I could be wrong. I am wondering what you meant about daylight being a trigger. As for needing a year, is that while taking antivirals? It's just so frustrating, knowing that I have to worry about this for the rest of my life. Maybe that's the stress in my life?

Some people believe that certain foods are triggers for outbreaks. You'll find a story of every food on the face of the earth causes outbreaks. I suspect in most cases they aren't, or at best a small contributing factor. Stress is the number one factor with daylight second. Stress comes in many forms, mental and physical.

Arginine has been shown to at best have a weak link to outbreaks in only a small portion of people. Lysine tablets are not effective in removing the impact of arginine in the body for these small number of people. No medical benefit has ever been demonstrated.

Regardless of taking antivirals or not, outbreaks will occur. Just keep going with what you are doing. Your body needs up to a year to have an immune system that fights the virus to its optimum.
