, burning at the opening to the vagina and occasional shooting pains in the labia. At four weeks after my last unprotected encounter, I had a herpes blood test which came back negative for both strains
. I understand that 4 weeks may have not been enough time to get an accurate result, and now, at about 10 weeks, I am waiting two more before retesting.
The big hang-up is that I have yet to see lesions or sores, not even red bumps. I am just constantly inflamed and irritated. I have been treated for a yeast infection...symptoms did not clear up. Have been tested for all other STDs and all is negative. Other vaginal
infections have been discarded as well. I do understand that some people experience herpes this way... is this correct? Never a full outbreak, but constant irritation? And if this is herpes, is it common
This doesn't sound like herpes. I know it's frustrating but keep following up with your provider. If you can find a vulvodynia specialist to see even better. Even a urogynecologist might be a better choice if your regular gyn isn't able to figure out what is going on. All pain/irritation and no obvious lesions isn't very likely to be herpes at all.
