Any clues

by pitboy, Jun 15, 2009 09:55PM
About a month ago, I came down with the symptons of gential herpes. It seemed like I got a few pimples in my groin area, that eventually popped after a few days. A day or two it was painful, but nothing extreme. Ironically, a few weeks before I came down with these symptons, i had a comprehensive medical evaluation. All my STD tests. As for herpes, the doctor said i had tested positive for hsv 1 a few years ago but not to worry cause everyone has it. i was negative for hsv 2.

well, after my symptons erupted, I went to the doctor. Because I hadd been sexually active, since the previous round of std testing, he recommend he take a culture of one of the broken pimples. While we awaited the results, he put me on a three-day course of valtrex. A few days later, the test came back negative...

But the symptons persisted, although very mild.. Just a slight annoyance. No real pain, but I could tell something was active in my groin area. Just as improtantly, I developed a painless purple blister on the head of my penis. I went back to the doctor, he said the blister did on head did not look like herpes to him, but could be psphillis...

He recommended he do another blood test for both herpes 1 and 2 as well as psyphillis. He also put me on another 10-day course of Valtrext while we await the results.

I took the entire course, and started taking loads of vitamins... It appeared to work in stopping the mild symptons from the  pimples that break open. But the blister stayed the same, although neosporin seems to help on some days to shrink it.

Well, the final round of blood tests came back. It showed, like before, I was positive to herpes 1 (oral) but negative for herpes 2. I was also negative for psyphillis... My doctor said it woudl be rare, although not uncommon, for me to have herpes 1 on the gentials. But he's not sure what the issue is, so he is sending me to a dermatolist...

Now, since the 10-day course of valtrex is over, I am starting to experience the pimples that appear to break open in my lower groin area again. I noticed about three new spots toda.

The purplish blister on penis is also there, which makes me think that is not herpes cause its been there so long without doing anything like growing or shrinking or popping open..

So my question is 1) Do I have oral herpes on my genitals. 2) Do I have something else wrong me that is not an STD 3) What is that blister from if it is not an STD?. 3) Could all the test be wrong and I really have herpes 2? 4) Is it normal to take so much valtrex, and the day you stop taking it, the pimples reappear. 5) Should I be going to a determatoligst or back to my general practioneer for more testing?

any help is appreciated. Also, since this has been going on a month, from what I read herpes outbreaks only last 1 to 2 weeks, so is it possible I am having some other kind of reaction not related to herpes since I am approaching a month?
