This sounds a bit fishy.
If they tested positive and suspected that it was a false positive, then they would need a follow up test to confirm that they did not have herpes. Therefore, they would not call and tell you that they were positive. (However, they may not understand testing, etc, i.e. it may be an honest mistake.)
Getting tested is a good idea. Get a type specific test like HerpesSelect. Ask for that test by name and make sure that you do not get an IGM test.
...hope everything works out.
Thanks for the replys. Unfortunately our relationship has ended and there is no way for me to get the test results. I will have myself tested and see what develops.
The best way to sort this out is for you to get a copy of your partner's test results and post the numeric values here - ie hsv1 igg 5. 8 and hsv2 igg .34 or whatever they are. Otherwise we are all just completely guessing as to how to tell you what is going on.

In general some people test false positive. However, the way to sort this out is to have another blood test.
it is possible that a person can test false positive if they have HSV1. However that is the only likely cause. Ask them for their exact scores.
