to touch, but did not seem to be filled in with puss and did not turn into blisters and later sores.. One has dissapeared after i guess 3 days, leaving reddish skin where it was. The other one is still there (2, 5 weeks after it appeared) No sores, just this pimple-like bump. There is also another one, but smaller, 2 cm above the shaft of my penis. Further more, about a week after intercourse, i have developed a single lump on my anus.its just there, soft reddish. I can pass stool normally. I have never had an anal sex. I went for a medical checkup, doctor took a swab (eventhough she was pressing the swab hard, the pimple did not broke up)
My question is: is it herpes? I worried because of the girl i have sex with, she has herpes and had a blister during our encounter.
Chances are this wasn't herpes. They don't need the blister to open up for a culture just a swab of the area.
We do get bumps in that area from other things. I would say keep being seen if you get new symptoms to have them cultured. Be seen within 24-48hrs for best results on your culture. Other wise you should be tested 12 weeks after your encounter using a hsv type specific igg test.
Do you know which type of HSV she has and how was she diagnoised with HSV?
Thank you for your comment. My swab was taken a week after exposure, i hope it will not affect credibility of the test. So far no new symptoms, just those two bumps, it has been already two and a half week since they appeared.
She went to the GUM clinic, they took her blood and swab. She was not told what type of virus is it-1 or 2, but i guess 2, since her symptoms were quite typical for this type of the virus. My test results are coming up on this Friday, I am really nervous, dont know what to expect.
since you are in the UK, you'll need to follow up with a type specific herpes igg blood test privately - they aren't offered in the gum clinics from what I understand. You need to see if you have hsv1, hsv2 or both at this point. Even though your own symptoms don't sound like herpes, that doesn't mean that you don't already have herpes and didn't realize it.
Both hsv1 and hsv2 present the exact same in the genital area. your partner will need to call and ask if her lesion culture was typed to know if it's hsv1 or hsv2 genitally. Being in the UK, hsv1 is the more likely cause so finding out what type she has is very important for her especially.
Thank you Grace. Could you explain me the importance of knowing which type of virus one is infected with? I know that type is responsible for cold sores but since both can cause genital sores, what is really the diffrence? Both are incurable and contagious...
My two pimples have not changed. Both of them remain the same since they appeared. Small, pinkish. I can touch them, feel no pain. The same with the lump in the anal opening. Can touch it, its not breaking. Its almost three weeks...Is it possible that i have not contracted herpes from my on-off girlfriend? I mean i have had unprotected oral sex with her while she had a blister (couldnt see it though) but is there a chance that it is something else? If yes, what? Will be gratefull for any comment,
Mike
