Hi I have herpes in my genitals and the last outbreak I had was in August 2009. I knw it was an outbreak because I felt pain there. Now I think im havin another outbreak but my doctor said there were no lesions and it could be a bacteria infection because it has been itching VERY badly down there. But now its painful like the last outbreak so do u think that I could still be havin a outbreak without the lesions? If so should I start the valtrex before it gets worse because this feeling is very uncomfortable and irritable?

at this point not much I can do. you need to go back and be seen again.  at the very least, call the clinic where you were given the last prescription from and talk to them about what is going on now.

Hi,
Grace i dont know whats now happening to me.
I was put on Beclomin about a week ago because the doctor observed that the candida wasnt working.About a week after taking the medication my skin started to dry up and be a little flaky so i stopped my medication then the next morning i gave my penis a thorough clean and when in contact with water it started to hurt as though it was salt on a wound so i assumed its was open cracks from the flaking of the skin. I read from somewhere on the internet that not washing you genitals, eating alot of yoghurtand even applying some on the infected area for a day or two can help heal a fungal infection faster.Well, i gave it a shot and on day to(last night) i realised an open sore on ma penis head.its to painful to touch. There was one aswel on the shaft just under my penis head also to painful to touch. This mornin ive found two more on my penis head(making them three) and they are all kind of attached to each other and they are producing some white kind of like sticky discharge...

I cant go to the hospital till 2weeks from now because of insurance reasons and we have no free clinics here.

Is it possible that what i did may have caused this or maybe this is my initial outbreak cause these sores are just to painful...

Please respond...

Thanks

if the cream isn't working, go back and be seen again or at the very least, give the doctor a call and let them know.

well the acyclovir is causing abit of relief but the lesions do not seem to disapear.Soon as the acyclovir has stayed too long on my penis the burning gets back..and now the lesion is around the ring of my penis head...Should i wait to get off the PEP and see how things will respond?

Looser stools can cause irritation in general. I'd try something like sprinkling corn starch ( the kind you use to cook with ) on your penis when you get dressed each day or a corn starch based body powder. Helps cut down on friction and also absorbs excess moisture.

This doesn't sound like herpes going on.  Why she gave you acyclovir is beyond me. call the clinic and ask.

Thanks for the response Grace and yes my stool has been very loose since i was put on pep, could the drugs have something to do with the way my penis feels. I was seen again yesterday and the doc said its nothing big (after what i thought was yet another poor examination). She attributed my condition to the fact that am not circumcised. She said my penis has been getting to moist but that gives my head a lot of nods cause why haven’t I ever experienced this? and to top it of with my penis never really gets moist. I asked if the HIV drugs I’ve been taken could be causing what I’m experiencing and she said no, “its impossible”. Yesterday I had about 3 more red lesions pop up...just like the first ones except these looked more like patches and were not centered with red dots in middle like the first one. They gave me that burning sensation for about an hour then stopped and vice-versa. She sent me off with acyclovir, Does this mean I have herpes or its also used in other skin infections? Am worried cause I thought acyclovir was only used to treat herpes. Please respond to my queries. Thanks

go and be seen again to have this looked at. It doesn't sound like herpes going exactly - you need to rule out other things like fungal infections, irritation etc.   are you having looser stools from the hiv medications?

Please go get tested.  You need to go to a doctor to find out what that is.  Get tested for everything.
